Ok, I think we all are about as frustrated as humanly possible right now watching this debacle. However, I believe the true problems with this offense have become obvious. The focus on this offensive line has brought the attention away from a few obvious problems. Number one is play calling. This is a horrible show of offensive play calling. They play with no tempo and are obviously easy to predict. You put those two factors together and you put your offensive line in a disastrous position. There is no innovation whatsoever and as a unit, put zero pressure on a defense downfield. Also, the adjustments quality teams are able to make seem to be impossible for this coaching staff. It's awful. Number two is Hackenberg. He cannot make a decision passed his first read and only if the play is blocked perfectly. On only two, maybe three of his sacks, had any lineman actually missed a block. All others are on Hackenberg. He habitually takes unnecessary sacks and panics with anyone near him. Yes he has all the tools you can imagine in a pocket passer but he can't play the position on a non-dominant team. It's truly sad to see. There is absolutely no way he can play in the nfl unless this changes completely. He becomes "shell-shocked" at the first sign of trouble. Number three is general downtrodden demeanor of the team as soon as things don't go their way. Hats off to temple for sticking with their gameplan and staying excited to play. As a life-long penn state fan, even while on the Rutgers football team, it is hardest to watch the overall demeanor of this team. After this performance, I wouldn't be surprised to see recruits decommiting. The truth is I wouldn't blame them. I wouldn't want to play on a team with no enthusiasm either.
