So I'm walking back by the IM building to my car that's parked in practically Lemont (lot 21) hauling three half-gallons of Creamery ice cream when to my right I hear to my right," Who's Penn State's greatest running back ever?" I looked to my right and this large Ohio State fan says, "Besides Franco Harris, who's Penn State's greatest running back ever?"

I realize now he's speaking to me and I said, "Franco was a great pro but he's not in the top 10 at Penn State." So he says, "Everyone's talking up Barkley so who's the best?" I said, "Maybe in time, but I'd say Ki-Jana Carter or Curt Warner. Although Barkley has done things neither of those two ever did." Then there was a pause, and I said, "Curtis Enis, Curtis Enis was great."

The guy looked at me and pointed to his right and said, "That's him." I said no way. The Ohio State guy tapped Curtis and he looked over and said he doesn't think you're Curtis Enis. To which Curtis said, "That's me." I said, "No way." To which he proceeds to show me his driver's license to quell my skepticism.

I then tell the Ohio State guy that Curtis was a beast and the game he had against USC when he rushed for over 200 yards in the Meadowlands in the Kickoff Classic is legendary. Which brought a smile to Curtis' face.

I said to Curtis, "So how'd you get with these four Ohio State guys?" He said, "I work with them."

I'm glad I said Curtis Enis.

I also saw Bob White signing a card for a fan and as I walked by I said to the guy, "Freeport High School's finest!" with apologies to Eric Ravotti.

That's fantastic! I was Bob White's badminton partner in "badminton class" (elective) in '84 or '85. He was (is) a big dude.

Great story - thanks for sharing! I remember seeing Curtis in the hallway at Willard and he just looked massive - had a white t-shirt that looked painted on. Hope he's doing well - his NFL career ended rather unusually IIRC.

Enis was in a very bad situation with the Bears in the NFL ... then his legs went on him.

He was incredible at PSU. Alone but especially with Aron Harris
