i love local TV ads. Should be some good fodder for us. Here's one straight from the DMV circa 2000 with some Penn State flava:

Yeah - I've posted that before. That is the ultimate. I remember watching it (hair bands were just getting going for the most part) and I was like - what the hell is that?

The comments say that one guy was a vegetarian so he just shoved a bun into his mouth

I got that from you. Should have credited you with the post. My apologies. My post is a cover version of your original.

the vegetarian was Eric Brittingham, the bass player.

There are probably only 3 or 4 people on this board that recognize this, but if you lived in Tucson in the 80's and 90's, this is solid gold.

Reminds me of watching afternoon tv (cartoons) in the 80's....the good old days!

Oh my goodness...I remember that Ideal commercial (notice it was on 17 WPHL but most likely remember it from the long-lost and lamented Channel 48, WKBS (Burlington-Philadelphia)). We used to get those channels piped in on the cable in the Harrisburg area. I remember that Krass Bros. "Store of the Stars" too.

Anyone remember the Bob Gegnas Chrysler-Plymouth ads? "At the Erie-Torresdale el stop..."

And I really miss Dick Covington announcing "KYW...Newsradio...1060 - This is KYW, Group W, Westinghouse broadcasting, serving Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware from Independence mall..."

Eh, when have our people on this benighted board been able to color completely within the lines

The USDA commercials were run heavily on PBS so yes they were "local". Some were produced at Penn State, and many mine safety ones were produced in the explosion tunnels at Bruceton, by South Park.

Here is a classic Car Pitchman losing his marbles, very funny and warning for bad language.

There was a Baby's commercial in the 80's with 2 kids sitting in a booth discussing Penn State football. One asks who did Penn State beat in the 69 Orange Bowl. Joe's sitting behind them, he turns around and answers in his Brooklyn accent.... "Kaaaansas...beat 'em on a last second touchdown". I still repeat that commercial to this day. Wife rolls her eyes. I looked for it briefly on the interwebs, but couldn't find it. Anybody who was a student in the mid to late 80's would remember it.

Wish I could find the old Bobby Layman commercials from here in Columbus. One time he dressed up as Superman--he was the "Super Price Smasher"--flying over downtown.

And I well remember the "boss's daughter" and Krass Bros. from my youth in the Philly burbs.
