Thread on testing & treatment research for COVID-19

Now seems like the major question is what is the timing around FDA approval of these vaccines. Seems the initial reporting by the pharma companies is showing some excellent results with 90% or more being I think much higher than what was expected. Would love to see at least one, if not two of them approved before Xmas such that starting in January we can be distributing and vaccinating the medical community and elderly ASAP. I think once those two groups get vaccinated, this thing starts to turn around some as the death rates and hospitalization rates should go way, way down. Plus those two groups are the easiest to vaccinate as just need to get out to the nursing homes and can vaccinate large amounts of people in a very short time.

Next step then would be to open up to anybody over 70 years old and those who have double co-morbidities under 70 which is going to take a lot longer as how that is done in masse I still have not seen much information on.

Some very astute analysis in that post. Great job.

It'll be quite a while before the FDA formally approves them. But they are likely to get emergency use authorization soon.

Meanwhile
