Three point takedowns.

Bonus is important but relying on it can be difficult in March when everybody you wrestle is good and a lot of wrestlers don't open it up. Ultimately having sure guys getting into the Top 3 is the safe thing to bet on, no matter how you have to do it.

Even in 2018, Penn State was 3rd in bonus (Iowa led actually), what ultimately was the difference for us was 4 champs and a finalist providing 96 base points to start. Ohio State having 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6 for their AAs didn't stack up when we had a 5, 7, 7 on the back end as well.

His point was Iowa had more bonus type wins, 10 v 9 for PSU. Yet PSU outscored Iowa in bonus points scored. 14 for PSU v 12.5 for Iowa.
Total matches wrestled? That should be included in the analysis & discussion don't ya think?

PSU wrestled 46 matches, and Iowa wrestled 55.

We sometimes like to throw shade on Nelson Brands, but he deserves recognition. Between Bigs and NCAAs, he wrestled 13 matches and still managed to reach AA status.

Not an easy task when the margin of error is so small. ( average score 3-2 with 3 SV decisions.)

Please don't take this to mean I'm a fan of his style.

Now average bonus per match should get us to the promised land, Ignoring the fact that wrestlebacks generally have weaker competition.
