Time since last PSU Champ or AA, per weight …

I know you guys look forward to this each year. Alas, due to the pandemic, you've had to wait two years for me to add the latest info. ;)

Time for my annual update of this thread, after the 2021 Nationals.

After the 2019 NCAAs, the longest droughts since a National Champion were at 141 and 133. Those were also the only two weights where PSU had not had a National Champion under Cael Sanderson. Both of those "issues" were addressed this year. At this point, the longest drought for a National Champion is at 125 (5 years), with the 2nd longest drought a tie between 149 and 165 (3 years). PSU has had a National Champion at 7 of the 10 weight classes within the last two NCAAs, and 9 of the 10 weight classes within the last three NCAAs.

* = AAs in 2020 were not based on Nationals (as it was not held), but instead on wrestlers' body of work during the season and in their conference championships

Although the NCAA tournament was cancelled in 2020, weren't the top 8 seeds at each weight considered AAs? If so, that would make Cenzo Joseph an AA in 2020, albeit perhaps with an asterisk.

that's valid. I didn't even consider the 2020 AA designations, as they weren't based on the finish at NCAAs. I'll edit the update to reflect Cenzo's AA in 2020.
