Tommy Stevens Era

1. Who cares who will be the best at the next level? That means bupkus in terms of their college career.
2. The Heisman is more than just numbers especially to get an invite.
3. I never said we were a lock...you said we were a lock not to get one.
4. So Saban and Meyer must not be great coaches because you don't mention their names for openings.
5. You're LionRevival, I recognize the posting style.
6. Why do you always have to have the attitude that is most negative about Penn State just to have a discussion?

1. Because if we're discussing best QB I'm discussing skill set--that's Thorson
2. Heisman is absolutely about the numbers--sadly
3. Now you're a liar. Flat out liar. I even started a thread today saying we need ND to lose. If they win then we need some help. Go Badgers and Sooners!
4. I've already explained why Saban and Meyer (age/final stop) won't come up
5. Not LionRevival. Posting style isn't even similar. If you do figure out who I am I'll own it.
6. Realistic is not negative. Never has been. Never will be.

Thorson? Lol

Thorson? Lol

Yeah, the guy that will go in the second or third round of the draft. A guy who won 9 games at Northwestern. You probably don't like Justin Jackson either. Josh Rosen may be the first pick in the draft--does he suck because UCLA doesn't win games? Thorson was better last year but his WRs were poor this year unfortunately. Thorson doesn't fit our offense but the kid is very good. Guessing you've only seen him play once this year

1. It's like you're reaching to find anyone better than McSorley.
2. Heisman voters have said it's not just about the numbers, it's also about who represents the award in a quality manner.
3. So you're saying we have a extremely minute chance, which is pretty much like saying we don't have a chance.
4. And who's to say this isn't Franklin's final stop?
5. It's easy to say you're not someone and yes, our style is very much like LionRevival which is why I'm not the only poster to notice it.
6. Realistic doesn't always have to be negative....that's a misconception by all of you so called "objective" posters.

Congratulations. Only the best football analysts think that the back up QB is the best player on the team.
PS. He seems like a ball hog, unwilling to share the ball b

I can't believe there are people dumb enough to say that Stevens should start over McSorley. Just when you think you've seen it all.....BWI comes through.

1. Again, McSorley or Barrett will be first team Big Ten. Thorson has the best skill set--that's no reaching. Simple concept
2. So Baker Mayfield won't be invited or win? You're not that naïve. I hope Barkley gets the invite. He's a great kid and an elite back. You know there was a lot of complaints (including from SDSU) about him even being a finalist for the Doak Walker, right?
3. How is that a minute chance? We need ND or Ohio State to lose. That's not minute. You do understand we're out if Notre Dame, Ohio State & TCU win, right?
4. No one said that but unlike with the Meyer and Saban it isn't a known
5. Again, not LionRevivial. Much more infamous.
6. Nothing I've said is negative. It's your interpretation of it.

Some voters absolutely won't vote for Mayfield. How many? I don't know, but it may be enough for him not to win.

Actually I enjoyed the Zach Simpson era. I thought he played a hell of a game and I don't see a dropoff between him and our starter. This could lead to a better offensive line next season.

disagree with Simpson. he was a total liability getting blown up regularly. the OFF was not the same once McGovern went out. we were sputtering. things settled down when McGovern came back in during the second half. we need to get Menet ready as backup for that slot.

McSorley will win the Heisman next year. The sports yakkers love him.
Great stats and leadership. He’ll have better line next year. You saw what he did with time to throw today.
The wizard will have a great senior year.

Trace may decide to not come back for 5th year. he is a graduating senior this year and could decide he can make the NFL. if Trace decides to return to PSU, and Tommy graduates this year as a junior, then most people are predicting he does a grad transfer. he can get 2 years somewhere with that approach. i cannot imagine he will want to sit another year like this.

You just said Barkley will go because it isn't about stats but acknowledge Mayfield's antics are irrelevant in him going...got it. Backpedal much?

Barkley may go but we know Mayfield Love and Lamar Jackson (despite his actions today) are going. Does Barkley go over Tate and Taylor? I hope so...if there's a fourth. Hell, I hope somehow the voters focus on skill instead of stats but we know better.

LOL @ Trace declaring for the draft.
I agree Tommy probably transfers to play for two years. Florida could use him

There is zero chance of Trace leaving this year to go to the NFL. At best he would be a very very late round pick. Moreno likely i drafted free agent. It would be beyond moronic for him to leave.

I have thought that Stevens seems to hold on to the ball a lot on the read options. To be fair it appears he has made the right choice most of the time. But it seems like 3 out of 4 end up In his hands.

Stevens is a beast who has more zip on the ball and is a faster runner with the ball. Today's game proved that.

Hard to believe Stevens is better passer right now. He might have stronger arm and throw a prettier ball but Mcsorley’s experience goes a long ways. Stevens definetly has bigger up side but right now I take McSorley for sure to start next year.

McSorley got that experience yes but all things being equal; Stevens would do equally well.

That's just stupid. You can't compare someone's hypothetical performance with someone else's actual performance because the hypothetical performance will always be better, because it's hypothetical.

Yes Stevens has a good arm. Yes Stevens is an excellent runner. But can he read defenses? Can he complete a high % of passes? Against top tier defenders? We don’t know the answers to these questions...yet.

He has really only played QB In mop up duty. It isn’t his fault. Trace has been good/lucky with injuries and Stevens hasn’t gotten a shot yet.

Not at all sir. The comment stands.

Pure speculation, totally and completely unsupportable. Done wasting my time with so. Sorry I even started. Just glad you'll be miserable for another season as Trace leads us again next year.

Very true sir. I'd just love to see him operate, with the 1st-team, in a real game.

How in the hell is that backpedaling? I never said Mayfield wouldn't go, but I'm not sure he will win it because of his antics. But that won't keep him from being a finalist. Along with that, voters who look at the award as having an element of representing the award the right way could vote for Barkley. I'm not saying Barkley will or won't get an invite, but you're pretty damn sure he won't due to stats. I said some voters think it's more than just stats, but I don't know how many think that way.

Who are most people? Stevens has intimated on many occasions he is staying.

I think he needs to hop a lot of voters turned in their votes early because the award is for the person with the best stats...that the intent but that's what it has become. You can't argue that the award is more than stats if Baker wins or even shows up. Baker is essentially everything wrong with the sport.

You think McSorely the better option still? It's one of those good things to have.. two amazing college QBs but I think Stevens size makes him on another level.

I love watching Stevens as much as the next guy, but until we see him in any high pressure, non garbage time situation, I don't see how we could consider benching McSorley for him. In our limited looks at him, obviously we've seen that he loves to run and is good at it. However I don't know if the progressions and decision making are there yet- a lot of the time it almost looks like his first and second reads aren't there and then he just goes "screw it I'm running." It works against Maryland, but I don't know if it works when Rashan Gary or Nick Bosa are collapsing the pocket around you. Either way, the jury is still out and the competition will be fierce. I look forward to seeing how Franklin goes about getting him more looks next year if he comes back.

You saw something in 3-7 for 17 yds and a score that told you he's better than Trace?? Just b/c he's big and fast and can run the Option doesn't mean he can hit all the throws needed in this offense. Until he proves that, in a game, #I'mWithTrace.
