...my one thought is that our coaches are pretty smart...almost smarter than me....and the notion I feel (being pretty smart) is that the powers that be would've never let Tommy go unless they felt very comfortable with who they have now...be it Clifford or Levis...CJF could not promise TS the moon....and that very well could be a true blessing in disguise....hope so (me smart!)

The advantage is that Clifford could play for more than one year. Stevens was one and out.

The problem with that rationale is that if Levis loses he might as well enter the portal because when he gets his one year there will probably be someone else with 3 years remaining.

Unless there is an injury, knock wood.

  1. They didn't have a say. Stevens graduated and was free to go where he wanted.
  2. It would be unusual for a redshirt freshman to be a better option than an experienced 5th year senior.

What do you mean we didn't have a say? All Franklin had to do was promise Stevens the starting job.
We didn't have an experienced 5th yr senior.

I assume you mean Levis as he is the only RS freshman QB on the team.

Clifford has the tools that translate to the NFL better than McSorely. If he has a couple great years, he could leave early.
