Top Ten Freshmen Review

No argument at all from here. I was actually surprised with your first list having Nate Boston instead of Dalton Macri. Dalton continuing to return from shoulder surgery and testing it. Laid an egg to start the scuffle and then rebounded nicely. Fell asleep for a second late in the consy match vs. Moisey and lost, but I wouldn't bet on that happening again.

Kaid Brock is a real wild card at 133 and will be very interesting to see where he lands in March, unless of course he is out for longer. That would be a bummer. He's fun to watch.

Thanks!

We ran a poll on Twitter and 70%+ voted Nickal as their more impressive FR which is where I figured I would get a little feedback.

As for Boston, I originally had Stevan Micic, but then his transfer news came out so I had to change rather quickly. I went with Boston because he had actually beaten Micic, and I was hoping it would pay off. No such luck thus far.

Micic would be a good choice....but Boston failed to score on Macri losing 9-0.

Good list, though. Thanks for putting it up. Provides more good chatter.

Good read, thanks. Quick note, at 197, Kasunic is a sophomore, he was at 184 last season.

thanks I used wrestle stats as my database to look over results on the year, which is why I didn't initially have Kasunic, but then InterMat had him as a FR, so I included him on the bottom. Thanks for the note and I tweaked it.

The list is good. I actually would have swapped Nickal and Nolf, although entering the year I would have had Nolf before Nickal. But like you said, it's kind of like 1a and 1b.

Great job, I enjoyed the read and agree with the list (as far as those who I've seen wrestle). I admittingly haven't see all of them wrestle and am not familiar with eveyrbody on the list like I should be.

Some of you may remember in the preseason I previewed ten freshmen (trying to pick one from each weight) as the top wrestlers to watch in their class. The initial list didn't include true freshmen, but with the Scuffle behind us, I decided to revisit the list. I am probably going to get some argument with who I listed at #1 ;)

Thanks for posting. Excellent conversation starter.

I would go:

1. Nolf (157)
2. Nickal (174)
3. McKenna (141)
4. Brock (133)
5. Lewis (165)
7. Hall (285)
8. Zavatsky (184)
9. Macri (125)
10. Kasunic (197)

If I were allowed to use more than one guy per weight class, I would bump out Macri and Kasunic and put in Jordan (at 4) and Stoll (at 9, ahead of Zavatsky).

If Brock gets pulled out because of the injury news, I would slide everyone between 5 and 8 up a spot bet put Alber in at 8.
