The busiest road in Atlanta, and one of the busiest in the East Coast has collapsed due to a fire. Fortunately no one was injured. Will be closed for months. Avoid at all costs.

I know the area pretty well where the fire and collapse occurred as my daughter used to live near there (Lindbergh Station) when she was attending grad school at GA Tech. To get to her place we used to take the exit to Piedmont Avenue off I-85 and apparently this is about where the fire occurred. One of the worst places in Atlanta with regard to traffic for this to happen.

thanks for the news.....driving on Monday from Nashville to Augusta for a sporting event.......only to see Tuesday and Wednesday, but still should be fun. Need to avoid Atlanta.

I read an article that said it'll be closed for months. I'd hate to be anyone who'll have to get packed onto one of the detours in the middle of summer!

I just flew back from there last night - I guess timing is everything. Traffic is horrible there on a good day this is really going to be a mess for a while down there.
