Unsatisfactory first half

Georgia Southern leading Wisky 14-7 in the third. Let's have some perspective, folks. We played badly on offense and are up 9 on the road. If we win the second half by 9 we cover the spread easily. It's not our birthright to win every game by 30.
We aren't Wisconsin. We're a legit top 10 team plating down to the level of our competition. Wisconsin lost to Wazzu. They aren't very good this year. Fickell has to rebuild that program and didn't follow Prime's plan.
This team is drinking it’s own Koolaid. I dislike what I see. The o line looks totally confused and sloppy. Allar is taking too long to decide and the RBs are hesitating too much again.
This was the worst half of football I have watched a PSU squad play in a long time.

Our defense and special teams were good. Our offense played poorly, but we’re up 9 at the half. Get a grip.

Not if you have CFB playoff aspirations. That was ugly. They were not ready to play on offense. No downfield passing game.. They have a QB who can burn 8 man boxes. Didn’t look like it today. Dropped passes, penalties, and what the hell is Pribula running the Levis offense. Thank god the Illinois QB was terrible.
The first half was disappointing as the thread discussed. Why are so many people unwilling to acknowledge valid concerns for today. Do we think FSU fans aren't concerned?
So what if they are? PSU has lofty expectations and it was a bit tarnished today. Nobody cares about FSU. That should have been a big time throttling. They had the ball 13 times and scored 3 TDs! Very disappointed and it better turn around next week or we’re looking at the same old same old… and that’s not what the hype machine was expecting. Or the fans.
I missed the game and didn’t see the score. I’m assuming we got blown out?
Yes, we wouldn’t want to be hit with the reality of college football. We should be perfect every game and blow every team out from the first drive on.
Penn State with longest active streak of scoring 30+ points? I believe I saw that graphic in the fourth quarter?
The point is these are very young men, almost kids. They are going to have ups and downs. They're human. People EXPECTING them to win EVERY game by 35 are just not being realistic. Grow up.
A win is great (and expected) that doesn't mean they don't need to improve greatly if the goal is to contend for a title. The defense was great today...the offense wasn't good enough. Reality.
They're not kids and the expectation is to continue to improve...the offense took a step or more back today. Acknowledging that is normal. Refusing to admit that is just weird.
Don't know. My post was bait for all the sky divers without parachutes that go splat here when PSU is in a close game.
The team played through weeks of on campus flu and is undefeated with a defense that played brilliantly.
Had there not have been 6 or so catchable dropped passes and there had been 1 or 2 in the game.... would... should... maybe.
But the team toughed through it..

Just a guy that can't enjoy a victory. A three game starting QB won his first road game. I will take the W and enjoy it. On to Iowa.
Again what are you walking about? We beat a team we were supposed to beat. That's great. You can still discuss the big picture without thinking beating teams you're supposed to beat are better than they are. Illinois is a horrible team. If you want to celebrate beating the Delawares of the world feel free. Just don't expect others to do the same. Just like we'll beat Iowa easily.
And yet a far better performance than #1 UGa, #2 scUM, #3 FSU...... LMAO.

do any of us really understand what franklin was trying to accomplish in this game offensively?
First, I realize he wants a balanced attack...ok makes sense...but illinois was playing the run most of the game...and we were trying to run most of the game. Even the announcers commented on the simple fact that there more defenders than blockers on a lot of our runs. It was also obvious that if our back ran right, the entire defense went in that direction leaving them vulnerable to misdirection, reverses, .
Seems as if Franklin believed he was going to win and didn't want to show anything. Plus, stupid penalties cost PSU points and allowed a momentum shift. Big test for offense will be Iowa.

A sluggish game that ended when Franklin called off the dogs at 30-7 with significant time left in the fourth quarter.
Perhaps PSU will actually lose a few games and give the "elite fans" here something to really cry about.
