Urban Meyer, A History of Abuse

he'll have his "Vicky Triponey" moments. I am sure, over a long head coaching tenure, he'll have these flashes of brutality and anger. My head coach once dragged me around the practice field by my faceguard, an assistant coach had us head butt the tackling machine, another had four people come at me at once when I was a 130 lb. soph trying to play outside linebacker. Any of those events would get a coach fired today.

Are these things true and reflective of everyday life under Urbs as a headcoach? Who knows? i know several players have come out to defend Urbs too.

At this point, this all becomes noise to me.

Lets focus on the assistance coach's wife, her claims, what Urbs knew, what tOSU knew and what was done about it.

He's coached over a thousand kids and they found four that said they were mistreated....agree with your post, Obli, as I said in earlier post, open season on Urbs now.

I continue to have a very difficult time visualizing OSU cutting Urby loose. Based on what is known, I just don't see it happening.

That said, OSU - like any major University - is an absolute swamp bit of Bureaucrats (in the worst possible sense)….. and as such, they are MUCH more influenced by PR, self-interests, and self-preservation than they ever would dream to be influenced by truth or righteousness.
Therefore, the current media (main street and social) onslaught is not good for Urby. Depending on how long it goes on, that could start to generate a lot of weight.
If the NFL was currently in season, would the Urby story even be getting ink on Page 8? When do NFL camps open?
You could, of course, be right. But he has the "big name" cachet ala Paterno to make this a lasting story.
I think that's how Dantonio skated. He's a solid coach, but the average American would say "Dan who"?

Please don't buy into that bullshit hit piece. Good Lord haven't we learned anything after the slime sucking media drug Joe through the sewer? Any coach could have former players come forward with that kind of edited bullshit. Not every kid has dignity or commonsense. No coach is safe. You don't think they could find 3 or 4 former players to do a hit piece on Franklin? Think again. Sickening.........the man behind this is nothing but a scum sucking Surma.

Yes I for one can’t wait to hear the other side of the story for why a grown man would throw a Gatorade bottle at a kid. Must be a new teaching tool. And making a kid play through a bacterial infection and denying him access to healthcare. Has to be a good reason for that too. No coach should be safe who does that kind of stuff. It’s time to end the meat head football culture that has run amok for so long. It’s so sad to see people still defending it.

I think being in both the Big Ten and SEC is going to hurt him here as well. They are the two biggest conferences in the country. Just by virtue of being successful, people are going to be inclined to hate him. Something happens and everyone is quick to jump in, "See, I knew it." I would bet the calls for him to be fired are going to be louder in SEC and BIG country.

that's nothing compared to Sonny Randle's Michelin man!! While in full gear, he'd have a player that screwed up, place 3 old car tires that were laying around (you know the kind you use to run thru) on their heads!! So now your head is in the middle of the tires. And you have to run around the outline of the field a couple of times!! And many times those old tires would have that old nasty rain water left in them the would run down your uniform. Of course you really couldnt see where you were going, so you had to lift one of the tires up so you could sneak a peak out!! A Little shot of Michelin Man!!

Not a blog dummy. Took down ACORN, exposed Planned Parenthood and best of all did it using their own words and actions. LOL.

Every time something hits the national media........I see what everyone else grasped when they bit on The Paterno Hook. We are truly surrounded by gullible idiots. I knew a coach who put his hand thru a window at halftime, kicked over water buckets and grabbed players by the shoulder pads and shook em. Fire him. Too damn late, I retired.
PT Barnum was wrong......there are thousands of suckers born every minute.

You are hearing one side of the situation. You aren't even allowing for a he said he said. So you know that everything these players are saying is truth and don't need to hear the other side? Interesting take

The 1980s called they want their foreign policy back. Hahahaha. Then you dumb ****ers suddenly discover... what, what what.... the Russians are dangerous? Haha I’m crying. Morons spent 70+ years telling us to give peace a chance with the Soviet Union.. hahhaahahhaa. It would be even funnier if you ever learned a lesson from your previous idiocy. Nothing to see here. My previous position was more nuanced.

All of the above, with special emphasis on the complete ignorance, so it seems, with regards to crisis management and communications.

Barry, correct my timeline if I am wrong, but I believe the VP of Human Resources who was at PSU in 2011 is now the VP of HR for Ohio State. She left PSU for OSU over a year ago. One of the issues that twisted a few noses at PSU in 2011 was the lack of HR VP involvement before, during, or after the crisis (HR reporting into Gary Schultz notwithstanding.) This in regards to the PSU employees at the time, not JS.

Just as Gary/Graham should have (in hindsight, of course) made sure that (1st) Harmon and the UPark police and Legal Counsel were involved to a greater extent than they were, then (2nd) a quick check with HR would have been worthwhile even if to simply give the VP (not lower staff levels; for example, not the HR Lead in Athletics) a heads up and to be on standby in anticipation of being needed. And once outside agencies and LE are involved, that is the proper stance for HR. From what I've been told and understand, there were plenty of things that were handled in a ham-fisted fashion especially after Nov. 2011 (looking at you, Fester) where HR Leadership could have helped advise.

I am assuming competence at the VP of HR level. From knowing a couple of senior-level HR folks at PSU, I believe that is a good assumption. Your experiences may be different at different levels and for different types of interactions.

We should never lose sight that it happened to JVP and it could happen to CJF.......and a former QB might tweet the same damn thing.
I sure hope that CJF isn't in the kind of position that one of his players basically kicks him while he is down. Players don't like coaches all the time and I get that. But this tweet coincides with the op.

Anyone heard from Hack lately?

It doesn't matter what ex-players say about Meyer at this point. Love him or hate him, it is immaterial & won't change his fate.

Anybody listening to mad dog? Going absolutely nuts in defense of Meyer. Wasn’t he pretty rough on Paterno? Kind of strange how sensitive he is to those attacking UM

It’s has to be some weird personal or political thing with him. Think I’m going to bludgeon him with it on Twitter like he attacked PSU.
