I've said it before Hack was many things to this team but he doesn't have what McSorley has. We needed Hack for the sanction period but we need McSorley and the young players to take us back to elite.

UNLESS some MAGIC dust is sprayed on the OL it does not matter who the QB is.
Although they played as well as they can today, hence THE problem.

Not completely true. A good running QB--in college--can help when the line is not as good. You have more options.

Aside from the touchdown pass to Hamilton - which was a heck of a throw and Hamilton made an excellent catch - I wasn't too terribly impressed with McSorely's arm strength on the whole for the afternoon, and I'm not sure how much his athleticism makes up for that weakness. He floated an awful lot of passes, and his accuracy was pretty significantly below what we see from Hack's. I'll be behind him all the way if he wins the job for next season and he was able to make enough plays to get us back in the game today, but I still strongly suspect that it'll be an open competition this summer - and I predict Zembiec will be the most talented quarterback on the roster, assuming Hack leaves.

Shut up. Your going to be called a Pitt troll and be accused to be negative.

Give me Stevens or Zembiec any day over McSorley.

Back to back 7-6 seasons and people are so hyped. Boy our program has fallen.

I agree with that BUT how often can you expect Barkley to MAKE his won holes to run in ??? The line almost NEVER makes a secondary block. I hope some help is on the way next year, but I do not expect much until the year after.

Agreed, Mc Sorley was both accurate and mobil when the OL broke down. And we have talented OL recruits, they just need another year or two. Future is bright for the offensive, now if we could get a couple good defensive tackels and LBs we'd be a really solid team.

You apparently didn't watch the Louisville - Texas A & M match up. Louisville's offensive line is worse than ours and their FRESHMAN quarterback threw for 200 and ran for 200 yards to beat an SEC team. The kid's offensive line has 3 true freshman playing at different times (2 starting) playing against one of the best defensive lines in the SEC and made them look like high school kids at times. Petrino integrated some read option into his playbook to take advantage of the kids skill set and it worked brilliantly.

He is only rs freshman. While I hope for an NFL prospect in the future at least he looks like he can be a solid college QB

And a good OC. That is apparently coming soon. Plus we have some young RS studs and incoming freshman. The future is bright except for the eternal pessimists.

I glad someone FINALLY fixed our OL problems. NOW I'm pumped for next year. AND why didn't you fix our OL earlier this year ????
Did you watch the Georgia game and listen to the comments about our OL ?

You are a dick - McSorley made us competitive today a-hole. Man I hate this board.

Then you should be a professional football GM. College and pro football are very similar but different games. The list of great college QB's who failed in the
pros is extensive. I'm rooting for someone who wins for PSU.

I'm beginning to believe that arm strength is overrated. If the receivers can't catch it because it's thrown too hard, then the arm strength works against you. I am intrigued by McSorley. I think he may have "it"

So you think arm strength is more important than accuracy?

Hack showed some "it" during his first season. The last two, not so much. I agree with you about McSorley.

Your dog deserves a better owner.

I think both are important, absolutely. But you need to be able to make the throws to deliver them accurately. And if you're going to make throws on target, they need to have the zip needed to get the ball to the man before the defender. They both work in concert.

Can't wait to see this kid dominate next season with the new OC

Doesn't take much to get you excited does it? Wonder what a photo of Betty White would do. Let's see what Stevens and Zembiac do this spring.

Im ok with Mac.. he looked great and has paid his dues unless one of the new guys shows hes a miracle worker

Mac looked like a scrapper - and kudos on the effort!! But not sure he has enough tools to take us where we want to be. Expected more of a running threat...and arm looked below average...job should need to be earned in camp. And until Oline improves, there will be limitations...

Your cheese either slid off your cracker or you replied to the wrong post. Perhaps both?

McSorley doesn't seem to have any of the measureables that Hack does but appears significantly more effective. Keep in mind his practice time was not what Hack's was and he hasn't developed timing with the first string receivers. The kid seems to be a fighter. I wouldn't count him out because sometimes that undersized kid with less arm strength and some mobility and moxy just knows how to win. He damn near brought us back from dead against the team with the 2nd best record in the SEC today. Oh and Hack got us a mere a 3 points, that's it. Sometimes you don't have to have a 100 mph fastball to get the job done.

2 and a half quarters and you are already saying he is more effective then Hack, who broke all kind of Penn State records..

WOW!

Two
I believe its possible with Joe Moorhead at the offensive helm we may see two quarterbacks system, maybe Oblivix will have some input. He did a fairly comprehensive review on JoeMo.
two quarterbacks equals no quarterback
