Washington & Minnesota

Agree. Washington and Minnesota will be tough outs….so will Wisconsin in Madison. At least 2 of the 3 will be Illinois-like….or harder, IMO. — Our defense is elite, or near elite about 60%- 75% of every game. They’re going to need to raise that percentage if they want to win those 3 games, and to have a good shot at OSU.
Was Illinois a tough out?
I dont understand why people are jumping on these bandwagons right now.
Wisconsin isn't impressive...see their second half about USC or the game against Bama
Minnesota got killed by Iowa iirc
Washington lost to Wazzu and Rutgers...beating Michigan (who can't find a QB) makes them good?
The reality is...our schedule has 11 wins...less than that is a disappointment given Franklin success against lesser opponents
We're ranked 4th/5th...let's stop being scared of schools FAR beneath us.

Wash, Minny and Wisky are mediocre. What you're seeing is that Mich and USC are mediocre, as well, not that Wash, Minny and Wisky are stout.

Michigan's D is a definite step down from last year and their offense is trash ... poor O-line and no QB.

In the Big Ten, it's looking like you have OSU at one level, PSU and Oregon at another level (and I think Oregon could be a paper tiger, as well), and then you have a bunch of mediocrity. And, finally, a handful or so of trash teams. I'm leaving Indiana out of all of that, because I have no clue what to think of them at this point ... they haven't played anyone. I'm guessing they'll eventually fall back into the mediocrity muck, as well.

That’s not to say that if we play those mediocre squads, we couldn’t be in for a fight here or there … poop happens … off days, natural up and down nature of college kids, etc. … but there’s no team out of the mediocrity muck that specifically has me on alert.

Has anybody looked at USCs stats?

Moss has 300 yards more passing...with 100 more attempts. Both have 9 TDs. Allar 1 pick to 4 for Moss.

USCs leading rusher has 50 yards more than Singleton (our leading rusher), but he's played 1 more game and has 30 additional rushing attempts.

Tyler Warren has more catches AND receiving yards than USCs #1 WR.

The scariest part of this game is that it's a road trip.

Yes, Illinois was a tough out. Tougher than it should have been?….yes. But make no mistake , getting smacked around by Big 10 linemen takes it toll in the aggregate…. and Washington, Wisconsin and Minnesota all have big, strong lineman. Maybe they’re not 4 star talents, like PSU, but look no further than Iowa and Wisconsin who churn out 2 and 3 star linemen to the NFL. —- We are more talented than those teams, and we actually have a good shot at beating OSU at home, but we need to clean things up…a lot. There are several “tough outs” remaining on the schedule….regardless of W/L record.

True but USC has played LSU, Mich, Wisc, & Minn. PSU has played Illinois.

FWIW PSU is favored by 4.5

Oh I never thought for a second Illinois was tough. Not worried for a second in that game. You don't need to win 42-0 for it to he easy.

I have zero concern about anyone other than Ohio State. Yes, upsets happen and could happen but we're the better team and have proven we win games we should.

And they are 3-2 with worse stats than the ones we have (that apparently haven't impressed people enough). Why the fear?

I was expecting a 500 yard WR. 15 TD passes.

Agree with that last sentence 1000% Not only is USC playing at home in the Coliseum, but PSU is making the hardest roadtrip a team can make - coast-to-coast going east-to-west... without question, hardest roadtrip you can make relative to your body reorienting itself to timezone change.

Add to that, that USC has better than average players across the board and PSU's injuries are still a big ?.... this is far from a cakewalk gimmie.

WVU and Illinois could probably beat every team left on our schedule save for OSU.
So then why does Las Vegas have USC a 3.5 point favorite over us? All I am trying to say is that the remaining schedule is very tough. We have beaten 5 cupcakes. Five of the remaining teams we play are better than anyone we have played so far. To make the playoffs we are going to have to be better than we have been to date, especially on pass defense.

Why are you so authoritative when you don’t know how to read point spreads?

PSU is a 4.5 pt favorite but ESPN only gives us a 48.1% chance to win.

I agree that PSU has played an easy schedule but I wouldn't call WVa and Illinois cupcakes.

USC, Wisconsin, OSU, Washington, and Minnesota are likely tough opponents.

Agree with this. Washington and Minnesota are playing better than one was (Minnesota loss to UNC was ugly) and the other is settling in (Washington beats Rutgers with a K).

I hope both win out before we play them.

Now, I'm going to say this:

Minnesota beating USC probably isn't a terrible fluke, but exposes USC's flaws. They aren't physical. Strong running will wear them down. And their passing offense has not been spectacular outside of LSU. I can understand elevating Minnesota, but why doesn't that loss decline USC in people's minds? Does the majority of opinions have to sway negatively for PSU?

As for Washington, beating Michigan is a good win, but Rutgers is a bad loss no matter how you shake it. Wazzou possibly but I know zero about them this year. Michigan kept that game close with a medicore QB supplanting a terrible QB. Are we really concerned that we can't keep them off balance with a great running game and Allar?

So, after week 6, Washington and Minnesota definitely stock up compared to week 5, but I'm definitely not comprehending the outright fear some here have for every single opponent.
I agree USC is no juggernaut. Coaching is my concern vs USC. Franklin coaches scared and not to lose and we do just that. We should win but don't have confidence that big game James will have the team mentally prepared.

Is Washingtons Offense good enough to pierce PSUs defense. Same old tune. Watch the games.
How did Bama, Michigan, TenneRsee, USC fair out yesterday. Speculate all you want with negative or positive slants or biases. We will all see if we watch. Wasn't it the pundits that were downplaying our schedule and bemoaning Washington being our whiteout game. Does any team go undefeated?
The conference realignment specifically with the SEC and Big 10 has just made going undefeated so incredibly difficult,,,Oregon may be the only school this year to do that.. but playing Ohio State on a neutral friend.. Buckeyes win..

Yes about WVU and I was one who thought they would win out this season after losing to OSU... my bad. And I admit I was wrong.
No worries--WVU beats the teams they should recently (other than Houston) and gets killed against anyone with talent
