B1G weekend for Shields!

Knocks off Pantaleo Friday, Jordan today (7-4).

Jordan w/ heavily-taped knee, BTW.

Micah Jordan goes down to Shields of ASU, 7-4. Jordan trailing 5-4 after two periods and chose neutral to start the third period.

Shields 7-4 over Micah.

Jordan looked quicker on feet in the first with 2 takedowns, but then Shields got a takedown and Jordan needed to be defibrillated from bottom.

Jordan took feet to start the 3rd down 5-4 and had no energy or urgency. Shields took the only 2 shots, scored on the 2nd one, and Jordan showed no signs of attempting to escape.

Half way through and I am not impressed with the buckeyes at all. Arizona States wrestlers are all better conditioned, and every one of them runs back to the center all the time. Pletcher barely won in OT, could have lost too. Mckenna won easy but looked beatable. Hayes gassed big time against Maruca. Maracu should have won that match, a couple mistakes he made cost him. Micah jordan just got beat by Shields.

Half time now and some other good matches coming up.

Yeah, the choice of neutral when down by 1 in the 3rd was quite telling in regards to his confidence on bottom.

Probably suffering from PTSD.

I agree with you about Hayes. He was gassing and probably should have been hit with stalling sooner when he was on top. He scored twice off of Maruca shots. He will be in a world of hurt when he wrestles Zain.

Zahid had a bone to pick. It was the opposite of the respect/friendship you see in a Hall match. His body language was like who is this poser?

Yeah, Zahid too quick and, with one exception, always a step ahead of Jordan. At one point, while trying to finish on a single that Jordan was defending with a whizzer, Zahid reached up as though he was going to try to throw in a half. Jordan took the bait and, as soon as he (Jordan) started to come up, Zahid limp-armed out for an easy 2. Masterful work there.

BTW, JD Bergman is the announcer. He's generally pretty good, and I was definitely psyched to hear him make a reference to "the Moore twins" when listing a couple of people that might have actually been able to pull out a last-second, winning fall when there was no other option (comment in reference to the situation A. Valencia was in vs Cambell -- down 13 in the closing minute).

8-4. Zahid w/ 4 takedowns. Bo w/ 3 escapes and 1 penalty point.

Looks like no Tanner Hall for ASU. Can't be good for a guy's confidence to start the season 0-3.

I think it was 9-4 with a RT point.

EDIT: And that penalty was kind of entertaining. Bo tried to slowly
stand up on Zahid, and Zahid was in that awkward stage of trying to release but ensure he didn't leave himself exposed,
as Bo was also turning into him. So, Zahid slyly hooked the near leg and used it as a sweep/back trip while simultaneously pancaking Jordan. The end result looked like a martial arts move, with Jordan flying backward 5 feet and landing on his butt, while Zahid stood there as if to say "Get the F out of my kitchen."
