ASU has looked great Campbell looked like a genuine threat. Ohio State has to go back to the drawing board when it comes to scoring bonus points in big matches.
How did the dual get to 285 so fast? What happened at 184 and 197?
125 Milhof--- Fall in 2nd ASU 6-0

285 Snyder Fall in 3rd up 24-10. FINAL. OSU 31-12
Thanks for the heads up Bergman doing a nice job.
Zahid is looking like a man on a mission. He's way too dynamic on his feet for Bo.
Bergman did a nice, but curious job.
More color than play-by-play ...
And resembled Tony Robbins after 3 cups of coffee.
I think Martin got the pin in the 2nd period. ASU 197 forfeits to Moore and bumps up to be Kyle Snyder's drilling dummy instead.
From another forum, stated by a fan that was there...he said Hall was in his warm-ups and ready to go, not happy when he was told by the coaches he wouldn't be wrestling. I know Hall wrestled Coon Friday night, so sounds like a minor tweak, maybe??Did they say why Sasquatch didn't wrestle 285?
Campbell's beat down of Valencia, any thoughts from those who watched?
I thought Campbell chose top in second and Anthony chose top in third ?Anyway, the match was strange. Campbell gets the first takedown and turns Anthony twice for back points. Anthony then chooses bottom to start the second after the fact Campbell used him as a mop. Campbell uses Valencia as a mop again the whole second and goes up 14-0.
Signing on to this smart take, having just watched the dual myself. Wasn't easy to tell if Campbell just got that much better or if AV has regressed, b/c AV has had problems on bottom, but I've seen AV on social media question himself, so I'm thinking regression is at least a part. Not to get into his head too much, but it's easy to speculate that watching your brother jump levels is hard when you were once even with him.The video feed didn’t show the sequence that led to the first takedown, but I thought the match was a shocking result, especially considering Valencia beat Campbell 9-2 at least year’s NCAAs.
There are a few possible explanations...
1. Campbell has made huge gains in the tOSU room and is a top 4 threat in this weight class
2. Anthony Valencia has regressed/is unmotivated/never really was that good in folkstyle. His biggest folkstyle win in high school was over Mark Hall at the Freakshow, but Hall avenged that convincingly at Who’s#1. Other than that, the rest of his impressive feats were in freestyle (wins over IMar at JWTT, beating Caldwell). In addition, Valencia isn’t too savvy on the mat and is known for his blast double. My guess is most elite guys have figured that out. His strength/athleticism advantage he had over guys in his latter high school years has likely decreased on the D1 level too.
3. A combination of the two above.
Anyway, the match was strange. Campbell gets the first takedown and turns Anthony twice for back points. Anthony then chooses bottom to start the second after the fact Campbell used him as a mop. Campbell uses Valencia as a mop again the whole second and goes up 14-0.
Then the match gets really weird. Campbell doesn’t really appear to go for the tech and puts himself in a couple dangerous situations in the third. Anthony rides him out, looking for the fall but can’t find it.
My take: Anthony is the ‘gatekeeper’ of the weightclass, separating the elite of 165 (top 4) from the middle of the pack (R12 types). I still expect him to make the podium.
