We are.....better 7/28 - Jerry Cross

Judging from Pribula’s twitter, he is close friends with Ivey as well. Can’t hurt.

Not to put the cart before the horse, but a WR trio of Saunders, Flowers, and Ivey would rank higher (on paper) than any WR trio since at least Blacknall/Godwin/Thompkins.

3 of the top-20 WRs in the class.......we haven't had that kind of haul since.......ever? Even that 2014 group didn't feature a single guy among the top 20 WRs in their class.

Do you know when Mehki Flowers plans to announce?

I don't, but he's been chatting with Saunders on Twitter and even suggested that he wanted to join the party. Of course, kids talk like that.......so I wouldn't read too much into it. But it's promising.

Interesting thing about Saunders, Flowers, and Ivey......all 6'1 or shorter. But man.....that's a talented bunch. Cross has great size, and some have suggested that he's a WR at the next level.

Either way, 2022 looks to make up for the WR/TE misses in the 2021 class.

Strange seeing kids in my daughter class (22) going through this process. Knew it would happen though.

It reminds you of D. Williams, Justin King, and Jordan Norwood.

Yeah......that's really the only trio I could think of, though nobody in the 2022 class is on par with Derrick Williams as a recruit, and of course Norwood was a recruiting afterthought. I'd gladly take their productivity, though (swapping Justin King for Deon Butler).

Obviously no guarantee we get all three, but we are looking pretty good with both Flowers and Ivey, it seems.

At the time, the Shorter(1)/Dotson(36/George(46) class was thought to be absolutely stacked.

Dotson has proved to match his rating IMO, Shorter and George still have to live up to their projection. Albeit, Shorter in another uniform.

I was referencing more from the perspective of a group of Penn State receivers who were short, athletic and talented.

I believe Jordan was a walk-on. Given that Jordan's dad was on the Penn State staff, he probably didn't take a lot of visits, nor receive a lot of offers.

Unrated walk-on wasn't he?

Nope, Norwood received a scholarship offer very late in the cycle and many on this board went ballistic. Believe he wound up as a grayshirt.

Deon Butler was a walk-on......maybe that's who people are thinking of? Part of that same 2005 freshman class, though he redshirted the 2004 season.

PennLive has quoted Flowers as saying he prefers to play Safety in college. And they list Flowers as 6'2" 191lbs with the frame to play at 210-220.

"Flowers has told PennLive he’d prefer to play safety in college."

If PSU is looking at Flowers at Safety, a 3-4 WR class may include Sanders, Ivey, ....a FL target......

Not according to Rivals...

In fact, this article says he was a walk-on:

Norwood entered Penn State as an undersized walk-on in the midst of the The Dark Years, as Penn State had suffered losing records in three of the past four years. The team would finish 4-7 during his redshirt season in 2004. At the time, the mere thought of Norwood becoming a starter during his time at Penn State seemed highly unlikely. The idea that he would be a key contributor on multiple Big Ten Championship teams at Penn State was downright laughable.

That would all change in 2005. Paired with fellow redshirt freshman Deon Butler, and true freshmen Derrick Williams and Justin King, the group of young receivers would completely transform Penn State's moribund offense into one of the most dangerous in the nation. With Norwood catching everything that came his way, Penn State would go on to win the Big Ten and finish third in the national rankings following a thrilling victory against Florida State in the Orange Bowl.

Got to like our chances against that competition.

I imagine Parker has a relationship with Ivey, but still.......I'll take our chances.
Normally yes, but Adam Brenneman is a Graduate Assistant at Arizona State and I just saw that Ivey is referencing Brenneman's handle in twitter posts.

Love this but have to laugh....every time I think of someone named "Jerry Cross" I think of a retired guy that works as a golf course starter in Florida or something. That is a throwback name.
