We've vented and can move on to thinking about next season.

-Strengths: OL, TE, Secondary, and experienced QB if Allar returns.

- Question marks: DT, DE, LBer, RB (do Singleton and/or Allen return?), and WR.

The younger players and those who were injured and missed most of the season have to capably fill the voids if the team is to reach the playoffs again.

Thoughts?

Sure, let's just forget about 1-18 and the pooping of pants we witnessed less than 24 hours ago.

I've been taking the loss surprisingly well. Basically Allar pulled a 1990 Rick Mirer and we lost instead of won.

So we are still knocking on the "elite" door- and last night showed that we are that much closer.

Top 5 Star level talents like Abdul Carter, Nick S, Drew and DDS are the base of recruiting upgrades. We know that running out McSoreleys and frankly Pribulas will only get us so far. We need success next year to get another batch in.

Developing guys like Warren and DeLuca are credits that people forget to give Coach whilst bitching about WRs and Allar. However, the new way seems to be to pick up the diamonds in the rough that others polish.

Next year we should be solid offensively- even assuming Nick is gone. Our weakness is beyond obvious. Maybe Saunders gets healthy and compliments the new guys?

Our D Coordinator should be better after a year around the program. He has work to do- but everyone will be more on the same page. Maybe their faster play covers for some of the talent loss?

We have no choice but to move ahead.

Should be another interesting year in the Top 10. Maybe, just maybe, we learned something last night.....

I would add corners as a question mark and not just put them in the secondary group.. Reed and Wheatley are obviously very good safeties so they were strength of the position... But the corners I thought were really underwhelming which was disappointing. When we landed Kimber and Harris and Collins in the transfer portal I really thought that was going to be a strength, but boy they got gashed by some teams that didn't really throw the ball that well like Boise State and Notre Dame. the corners to me were a liability. And don't get me started on Cam miller

Not sure about the offense next year. Drew won't have WRs, an unfortunate given. No Warren. Rappiola (sp?) and Reynolds are good but not Warren. No Kaytron and potentially no Nick. Quinton Martin better bulk up and stay fast. O-Line will be good. All in all we lose Warren and that will make the offense worse.

D-Line desperately needs young guys to step up. Ford coming back helps a lot. Hopefully Zuriah Fisher is healthy and can come back but not sure he has any eligibility. Granville will be a key piece. Liam Andrews was a big time recruit and hopefully develops and can contribute.

I think DDS and obviously Carter are gone. I think Durant returns.

At LB hopefully King comes back. Need Wylie fully recovered and Robinson to be better at LB

In secondary lose Kimber, Reed and maybe Wheatley. We were not great against good passing teams so this will hurt. Need a portal guy.

I don't think we are as good next year unless we magically get a stud # 1 WR in the portal, shore up the secondary via portal and have young guys emerge strongly.

Are you sure? It would be so much more productive to whine about it for the next 7.5 months, dontcha think?

I think they were more victims of a terrible zone defensive scheme. They were better in one-on-one coverage.

I'm hoping Franklin can convince all eligible players on the three deep to stay. MH has to go imo and the TA defenses while solid were not always great. I have never liked him as a coach and certainly not his defenses, but his defense against Boisey was his best I've seen. We have had better coaches in the past and we will see what another year brings with the D under TA. However, I think he's probably here to stay as long as he wants.

WO's QB's and DL, well honestly, we have needs everywhere on both sides of the ball. You can never have enough good players.

As for Pribula people completely miss the fact that the kid could really throw the ball and throw it well, the combination of throwing and running as a McSorley type QB Could have kept ND off balance. The departure of Pribula was really bad timing.

Now the name of the game has to be recruiting recruiting recruiting and possible coaching changes. One would think that there is a great receivers coach out there who can recruit and would want to coach for a yearly repeating playoff team and make a boat load of more money.
