LmaoFather had shingles in his early 60s and it sucked. I decided to get vaccinated a few years ago since I had chickenpox as a child. Zero issues, though your mileage may vary.
Before you decide, do yourself a favor and learn how the approval process actually works. It is far from the paragon of virtue some might think it is.
same. Shingles is caused by the same virus as chickenpox. And it never goes away. It stays dormant. Once you get it, you are unlikely to get it again, but it isn't unheard of. I also had it over my left eye. I guess it is really dangerous if it is in the nerves at the end of your nose because that nerve also controls one of your eyes. It can cause blindness. The worst was that I rubbed off my left eyebrow and had a splitting headache for a few days.
The CDC recommends the shot after age 50, but these are the same people still advising kids to get COVID shots. CLE Clinic just reported that the flu shot for 2024/25 was worthless. So proceed with your eyes wide open.

No issues with either dose…but that is typical for me. Others I know have gotten pretty sick (~flu). But much better than Shingles…which is worse and csn be lengthy. And the two-shot regimen is for life.My physician is recommending I get it because of my age.
I've heard it is the 2nd one that is rough. What has been your experiece?
Lmao
I had the original Zostavax in 2015 and had the current two doses of Shingrix in 2020. Can’t recall any reactions other than a sore arm at injection site.My physician is recommending I get it because of my age.

Lmao I’m board certified and have over 35 years in drug development. Despite what you read on the internet vaccine studies are conducted correctly and safely. It’s not an eye opener. The only eye opener is the nut job conspiracy led by rfkYou can laugh, but how do you think vaccines are approved? It's an eye opener. What's an even bigger eye opener is how much ad revenue news stations get paid by certain industries. You've got stations paying $25+ MM salaries and they get beat out in the rankings by the cartoon network. Hey, I get it, I used to have your views. Carry on
That is what is prompting me. My older sister had shingles a few moths ago. She was in lots of pain.My sister got shingles and her case was horrible. This prompted my wife and me to get the vaccines. We each had a sore injection sites that responded well to exercise. The soreness was gone over night each time.
I remember the shot being pretty painful and then I felt sick all day. Looking back, I guess I was being dramatic and am glad I do not have to worry about it.What kind of reaction did you have?
My sister has terrible pain and the pain lasted for a long time. That is what is prompting me. My older sister had shingles a few moths ago. She was in lots of pain.
More than just RFK - especially as it pertains to COVID…many, many highly accredited and acclaimed scientists have questioned COVID vaccine approvals. Some done with just a handful of very brief tests.Lmao I’m board certified and have over 35 years in drug development. Yeah. I am in the middle of a battery of tests because I haven't had any since 2019. I do have one serious problem I need to deal with but everything else has been precautionary. In the last three months, I've had ten Drs appointments. My impression is that Drs are like lawyers when asked to review a contract: they always find something wrong.I'm a hard pass. I no longer trust most vaccines, including this one.
You keep believing the internet lolWith you 91Joe95.
Pharma has Zero liability on vaccines. There was a such a liability issue that they all threatened to stop making vaxxes, so the US Govt gave them immunity in '86. The US Govt now assumes liability, but makes it nearly impossible to collect a couple hundred K if you kid dies or is permanently injured.
Here is a good conversation with a lawyer that works in this area. Would love to hear knickslion's "board certified" analysis on the design of the study on the latest measles vax (1 of 6 on the market)
i am curious...what is your opinion on why we are suffering so many more ailments like major food allergies, down's syndrome, and the rest? After COVID, sadly, I've lost any confidence in any institution in the world. You keep believing the internet lol
I’m not going to get into the Covid shot as that’s been beaten to death here. I got the first two shots and that’s all and will leave it there. True vaccines have been very effective in this country and have prolonged lives. Let’s look at the results from the HPV. True game changer in cancer and a must. There is no link between Down syndrome and vaccines. My take on the increases is that people have babies later in life. There is scientific proof to that. Despite what people read the way vaccines go through testing is 100% correct. The testing is designed correctly and efficiently to properly evaluate. The clinical designs aren’t like small molecules and can’t be developed that way.i am curious...what is your opinion on why we are suffering so many more ailments like major food allergies, down's syndrome, and the rest? Refreshingly, my cardiologist (yesterday) saw my results and told me I was just fine. I was supposed to undergo a procedure on Tuesday, but the Dr. walked in and said, "Do you really want to do this? We already know what we are going to find. I recommend we not do this and just address the long-term issue and get it over with."
I've had an MRI, a stress test, three blood tests, and just postponed a colonoscopy to this fall because I am worn out from all of the other craziness. And I felt fine when all of this started.
Everyone needs to go in with their eyes wide open, ask a lot of questions, do their own research and make the best possible choices. As Dear Abby used to say "50% of all doctors graduated in the bottom half of their class."
I'm a hard pass. I no longer trust most vaccines, including this one.
I remember when democrats thought big pharma was evil. #TDS has many side effects including blind defense of companies that have all paid billions in fines for fraud and putting sales over patient health. Interesting times. You keep believing the internet lol
I would assume that COVID 1 2 3 pressured our immune systems even those that survived it. As for downs syndrome...i am curious...what is your opinion on why we are suffering so many more ailments like major food allergies, down's syndrome, and the rest? After COVID, sadly, I've lost any confidence in any institution in the world.
Thanks...a good and well thought out post. For me, I don't understand how we can simply equate CO2 to Global Warming with almost no other evidence, and not equate exponentially increasing drug use to something like Downs and food allergies. To the point you make in your post, it is probably far more complex than we have the capacity to understand, let alone change.I would assume that COVID 1 2 3 pressured our immune systems even those that survived it. As for downs syndrome...
While the frequency of babies being born with Down syndrome doesn't seem to be increasing drastically over time, the overall population of individuals with Down syndrome is growing due to increased survival rates and life expectancy. This increase is largely attributed to improved medical care and advancements in understanding and treating Down syndrome-related health conditions.
- Increased Survival:
Individuals with Down syndrome are living longer now than in the past. In 1950, the average life expectancy in the US was around 26 years, while in 2010 it had increased to 53 years.
- Population Growth:
The population of individuals with Down syndrome is increasing in many countries, not because of a higher birth rate, but because more people are living longer with the condition.
- No Major Increase in Birth Rate:
While the number of babies born with Down syndrome has increased slightly, it hasn't increased dramatically, according to the CDC and other sources. A study in the European Journal of Human Genetics found that while the prevalence of Down syndrome increased from 1.3 to 2.5 per 1,000 total births over 20 years, this was primarily due to an increase in the number of older mothers and not a general increase in the birth rate.
- Impact of Older Mothers:
The risk of Down syndrome increases with maternal age, but most children with Down syndrome are born to women under 35, simply because younger women have more children.
- Screening and Termination of Pregnancy:
Screening and termination of pregnancy for Down syndrome have been introduced in many countries, which has led to a decrease in live births with Down syndrome in some
I think humans want something simple to blame. As for allergies we live in a world of contact with increasing complex chemicals. We buy and berry 🍓 but we get more than we bargain for. Our devices use what? Think Miramar. One of my workers fathers died of a stroke. Of course his son blamed COVID vaccine for his death despite the fact his father had 3 strokes before 2017.- I think we must learn the human biological existence is complex.... Period.
Shingles are tough. Good friend had them around the waist. He had to buy pants about 5 sizes too big and suspenders just to go out of his house for a couple of weeks. Extremely painful.Just had it, the second shot sucked. Would have rather taken my chances with shingles.
Had both shots a couple years ago with no issues. A friend had shingles and I did not want to go through that.My physician is recommending I get it because of my age.
I've heard it is the 2nd one that is rough. What has been your experiece?
Thanks for the advice, Max, 😉do you still use your POST bamboo, plastic clad slide rule?Correct. That says you got the info from somewhere but not where, which is equally important.
I used to review and grade writing for engineering students and run the work thru plagerizing software. AI is making that very difficult today.
In my engineering career I had to do a lot of writing and learned much from those who reviewed my work. I really wish word processing software, computers and the internet were available when I was a student.

And lacking cost benefit analysis in certain classes getting shot (not really a vaccine, by classic definition).
That said, vaccines have a very strong track record overall and have extended life expectancy.
"Big Pharma" isn't a thing ... labelling things like that is a way to make it easier to vilify and attack them, rather than deal with actual problems like adults. That said, drug prices should come down. Any abuses should be dealt with. That doesn't mean anything pharmaceutical is evil and untrustworthy. That's what crazies like you do. Rational people don't act that way.I remember when democrats thought big pharma was evil. #TDS has many side effects including blind defense of companies that have all paid billions in fines for fraud and putting sales over patient health.
