Who was at the 1994 Illinois-Penn State game in 1994?

I was there since I was in graduate school at Illinois at the time. The Central Illinois alumni chapter bought a block of tickets in the Illinois section, upper deck. Illinois fans were very respectful after the game.

OLD. MAN.

My wife and I were there. It was one of the best games I ever saw. We were seated in the end zone in the Penn State section where the final touchdown was made. The weather was terrible. The PSU fans were singing school songs as we were leaving the stadium. I will always remember that game. Wow!!
I tried to edit out the use of 1994 twice after I posted it, but couldn't. Sorry

I was at that game, in the end zone where Milne scored. We were over the moon with excitement. I sat behind a very very very large gentleman who had on a sweatshirt that said on the back "Illinois' Biggest Fan". He was not kidding.

We had to wait to leave the parking lot as we drove in from Chicago, and were on fumes when we entered the parking area. So, we waited for the crowd to leave before we got out of there and to the nearest gas station (this was well before Google maps and WAZE).

Great game.

I was there. Amazing comeback by a big-time offense against a big-time defense. Even though we were down big early, there always was a sense that we were not out of it.

Ironically, I also was at the Illinois/Rutgers game this past weekend. Game was not as good.

I was there with the wife and daughter( spring '94 grad and Blue Band member) for every misty moment. Saw Joab Thomas on the way to rest rooms. I asked him if they just allow him to wonder around in enemy territory. He responded "Sure, nobody cares about me."

cold, rain/snow as i recall. THE DRIVE was something to to behold. forget how many 4th downs there were, but collins moved them methodically down the field. greatest drive in ps history. after being totally drained, drove back to chicago in a snow strorm to fly home sunday. will never forget that day!!!

I was there with an old army friend from Chicago who was an Illinois fan but a West Point graduate. When we started our final drive from inside our 10-yd line, I told him Penn State had it in the bag. He just looked at me like I was insane.

My seat was on the goal line, so I was able to look right down the line of scrimmage on the play when Milne scored the winning TD.

I was 50 miles away in Giman watching the game in a local bar. The natives were stunned that Penn State came from behind given their staunch defense lead by their great linebackers; but they were vey gracious in defeat. I was working in the area at the time erecting communication towers in rural areas to provide uninterrupted cellular phone coverage along Interstate highways throughout the Upper Midwest.

It was not cold nor did it rain/snow that day. I was at the game and in fact, weather was good for that time of year in Champaign-Urbana. It was not until late in-game on our final series (the drive) that fog was starting to emerge since the day was unusually mild and cold front was starting to move in. Sat with my friend in our section corner of the end zone where Milne scored the winning TD. Funny a guy behind us wanted us to take more time off the clock before we scored. I turned and said to him we have been climbing up a fox hole all day and need to put this in the end zone as soon as posssible.

A bunch of us from Chicago were in the same section as you when we scored the go ahead touchdown. I believe it was Brian Milne that scored it. Great game.

I was there with my wife, her brother, and his girlfriend. Sat amongst some Illini fans who were very solemn about their chances pre-game and very polite and friendly. As it looked like Illinois might win, they got cockier and cockier to the point that they were almost unbearable. When we scored the winning TD, the left without a word.

I'm confused....how was it "not nice"? I must be missing something (which in my case is no suprise)
Ah!!! That’s hilarious!!! I completely missed the Marty McFly reference. As popular as that movie made the car, a disproportional number if D-owners were D-bags.

Figured you didn’t like my sarcasm, while totally missing the boat. Uh, I’ll grab another cup of coffee!!!

You must be remembering a different game. The weather sucked. The forecast was for 60 degrees and no rain. It stayed in the 40s and there was a very cold mist coming down for almost the entire game. I distinctly remember freezing my ass off and leaving the stadium in wet clothes.

Had no intention of going, but a buddy of mine saw someone selling 2 tickets to that game at the previous week's home game. He bought them and sat down next to me and told me where we were headed the next weekend. Damn glad he did it.

I was there. With my ex, as guests of an Illinois alumnus and his wife, sat near the 50, about 20 rows up, in the midst of Illini fans who were surprisingly gracious. No PSU people anywhere near us. We made a point of containing our excitement so as not to upset anybody too much. Longest two hour ride home ever. Our host/chauffeur was utterly crushed

thx. may have confused the weather for another trip to ill., but did have the game facts right. don't get old:p.

I was there too. Was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Trainig Center. Also sat in the endzone where Milne scored. My Navy buddies were giving me a sound ribbing during the game. But they got an earful on the way home.

I was there with a Penn State buddy from Chicago and 2 of his friends, a husband and wife who were ILL alums. We had good seats downstairs around the 40, but back under the upper deck overhang, so that you never could track punts, kickoffs, or long passes. After a debacle of a first quarter, when KiJana lost a fumble, and Collins threw a pick (and should have thrown 2 or 3 more...) we were down 21-0 to a stud defense led by Simeon Rice, Kevin Hardy, John Holecek, and eventual Butkus winner Dana Howard, all future NFL'ers. We gradually chipped away, as Collins totally settled down, to set up the mother of all marvelous drives, THE DRIVE. The Illinois couple barely said a word the entire drive back to Kenilworth. As I recall, the team's hotel was near a frat house or some sh^t and there were fire alarms in the middle of the night, and the hotel power magically went out, so the team's pregame meal was all cold food, like pizza. Likely the hotel crap played a part in the horrific first quarter, that, and we hadn't seen a defense that good all season. I remember the gloom that rolled in late in the game, along with the pressure packed The Drive, gave a mystical feel to the 4th quarter. I've been at many big games with exciting endings since 1973, and The Drive 's late game theatrics ranks up there at the top with 1982 Nebraska Blackledge to Bowman, 1979 Sugar Bowl goal line debacle, 1987 Gifto picks Vinny in Fiesta, 1989 vs Alabama when Blair Thomas carried about 10 straight times for about 60 yards, only to see the game ending and winning 17 yard Tarasi FG blocked, ARob circus catch 2013 vs scUM (4 OTs), Tamba decleating Heisman Troy Smith for The Fumble 2005, and finally 2 of the coldest games we ever played: 1987, stopping Tony Rice/Lou Holtz and ND on a 2 point conversion to win 21-20 (another great Blair Thomas game...over 200 yards), and 1977 when Millen stopped Pitt's game tying 2 point conversion to win 15-13 at Pitt. Fun times...

Gas money give out in Gurnee?

I watched from my dorm room at Lock Haven. By far, the drunkest I’ve ever been in my life. I was nervously drinking Absolut vodka throughout the game, finishing the bottle (shared with my roommate) before the final drive. After that, the celebratory drinking began. Yada, yada, yada....... I woke up the next morning in blood covered clothes and sheets, a gash on my massively swollen chin that should have gotten stitches and a hole in the middle of my tongue that I didn’t discover until I brushed my teeth. Hell of a comeback though.

The thing I remember most was all the players on the sidelines were in a long line holding hands during "The Drive".
I was watching it in Raleigh with the local Alumni group and we were all holding hands, too. In fact, I was holding hands with Greg Fischel, a TV weatherman and local celebrity back then. He told the raunchiest jokes, which was surprising (and a little unnerving).

I was there.

Maybe one of the top 5 PSU games I attended in person in my life.

* Was at all of the PSU-pitt games from 1979 - 1982 and they all seemed like classics
* Nebraska game 1982
* vs. Miami at the Orange Bowl 1999 (Chafie Fields TD to win it)
* Last 5 straight White Out games
* All of the Bama & ND games at Beaver Stadium during the 80s

..... I'd rate that 1994 game at Illinois up there in the top 5 games I've attended live.

Wife and I were there too, with an Illinois grad and his spouse. Was working in the Cincinnati area at the time. I was at the other endzone so basically had zero visibility into Milne's TD. That said, I found the Illinois fans to be very gracious in defeat. Those who I talked to basically weren't expecting a win.

Regarding missing games due to weddings, I recall a loss at OSU (probably during the dark years) and notably, MN in 1999. I was listening in the parking lot during the FG. Ugh.
