I'm pretty sure the national media is asking who either team has played, which generally is nobody. But then again, neither has Alabama. The only teams out there with a chance that have decent resumes are TCU and (I shudder to say this) Notre Dame. That changes this weekend for both PSU and tOSU.

EDIT: Notre Dame's will be good and perhaps Georgia has a decent win over Notre Dame, depending on how they finish.

Uhhh we kinda played Michigan a few days ago. Does that count? Guess not.

It means as much as it'll mean when Ohio State plays them. Michigan is not a great team this year. Their offense is anemic and their defense can't keep them in the game for 4 quarters because they're always on the field. No one is slighting Penn State - but let's be realistic: Neither Penn State nor Ohio State has played anyone great. tOSU even lost by 15 to Oklahoma who lost to Iowa State for crying out loud.

Iowa + NW >>> Rutgers + MD

Agreed, but if you are trying to hang your hat on those wins you must not watch much football. Everyone is just saying that tOSU and Penn State still need to prove themselves against good teams. Why is everyone crying about that statement?

Who are these so called "good teams" we both must play? Bama, Ga, Clemson, and other than that? Everyone else is pretty mediocre.

You have to be pretty good to be at number 17. Michigan wasn't "bad" until we steamrolled them. I hope you could understand, based on recent history, that the media discrediting that win could very well be slight against Penn State.

I just said the same thing. Everyone is waiting for tOSU and PSU to play. Those are clearly the best two teams in the B1G East. That's all. I just don't understand the victim card being played by people claiming that everyone is against PSU's schedule. Hell, people beat up tOSU about it every single year, and they're usually right. I'm pointing out that neither team has faced really tough competition. Iowa is PSU's best win, and it was a nail-biter, and shouldn't have been. tOSU doesn't have any great wins.

Not really - I just think that given the parity in teams these days, the AP tends to give "blue bloods" more credit than they should get. tOSU has benefited from that for years. So does Notre Dame. So does USC. So does 80% of SEC teams. I'm simply saying that I don't think it is unreasonable to wait until the 2nd half of conference play to start judging how good a team really is - especially with #2 and #6 playing one another.

Who is crying. Oh, I forgot only the big two fans are permitted to have ideas that differ from the B2G party line. Lol...heaven forbid we point out the same thing you do using B2 unsanctioned words.

The OP started this thread, obviously. All I've heard, day in and day out on ESPNU radio is questioning who anyone has played to date with the exception of TCU. In fact, even McElroy said he'd have PSU at #1 given the fact that Alabama's greatest win was aTm. No one is picking on PSU about their schedule. I am trying to have a normal football conversation, but this thread is just starting to sound like an echo chamber.

If Penn State beats Ohio State, Ohio State will be overrated and Penn State is still unproven.

If Ohio State beats Penn State, Ohio State is a total contender and should be #1

I completely disagree. PSU is ranked #2 right now - how can you possibly think that PSU is being somehow unfairly treated?

I think you’re correct here (it’s getting settled in 4 days on the field ffs), but you’re getting the brunt of our frustration about the media’s “just wait til they play Michigan” and after we steamroll the nation’s #1 defense it’s “Michigan wasn’t that good cuz you blew them out.” After Herbie’s nonsensical “eyetest” bs last year we are sensitive about perceptions.

......... OSU lost to Oklahoma at home, who lost to Iowa St. at home, who lost to Iowa at home, who lost to PSU......at home.

And that is totally fair - I'm on a PSU board. But from my observation, there are plenty of reasons to feel screwed over by the media if you're a Penn State fan - this just isn't one of them. Every time someone brings up the whole Sandusky thing it makes me want to puke - it isn't fair to the players or the current coaching staff and I really can't believe that JoPa would've tolerated it had he known. I think it sucks that Penn State got left out of the playoffs last year even as a tOSU fan. There are plenty of reasons to be upset. However, it seems like when things are going in your favor, you shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you.

Go Backwards in time about 11 months

You know very well that those are different situations. tOSU outranked PSU in all polls, were 6-1 after the game and PSU was 5-2 after that game. PSU is currently undefeated and ranked #2 and tOSU has 1 loss and is out of the top 4 right now.

^^^^This^^^^
Before the Iowa game....
Iowa is 4-1 at Kinnick in their last 5 games against top 10 teams
Penn State is on upset alert
Iowa will run the ball down Penn State's throat
After the Iowa game
Iowa sucks

Before the Michigan game
Michigan is the number 1 defense in the country
Gary and Hurst are going to live in the PSU backfield
Michigan will run on Penn State and their fg kicker never misses
After the Michigan game
Michigan sucks

Get used to it - this is what happens when you're on top.

Schedules are made years in advance. Some teams are better and some become worse from the original contract. All you can do is beat whomever is on your schedule. Simply put, Saturday is a big day for both teams. The winner is in the driver's seat.

Those 'so called good teams' are all in the SEC. They have always used the SEC to set the standard, not sure why either?
It's all they ever talk about. All other conferences are trash compared to them, so they think....

Seems like a lot of confirmation bias. There's been plenty of talk that Ohio State has only played one good team so far, and they lost that game.

Really, the talking heads have so many hours to fill, they all have to conjure up nonsense. It's why I simply don't watch or listen to them.

Well, let's see . I don't care who you play. Having the # 1 defense 8 weeks into the season says a TON about your D. And we just hung 42 and 500 yards on that D. Now all of a sudden they suck? Get prepared bucknutt cuz it's coming Saturday.

SEC is so good that aside from Ga and Bama no one else has less than 2 Losses

I know but they still love them for some reason....

It is crazy, but here is the reality of the situation. Most of the SEC teams are in smaller towns where there is nothing else going on except football. The PAC 12 suffers with low rating because there is a shit-ton to do in Cali and surrounding states and people don't make football their lives. Ohio is weird in that sense that we have a major university in a major city and it still has a large following. By and large, the East Coast and Midwest have people at least within driving distance to a large school.

What it boils down to is passion. tOSU, Penn State, TTUN, Wisconsin - have some passion. But if you've never been to a game in the SEC - Between the Hedges, Bama, LSU, the Gators - it's pretty f*ing crazy. We don't like to admit it in the B1G, but football is life in the SEC. That's why they get so much attention.
