Why "Social Media" is great....

Greg is also a "well parented" kid. And not just because dad hangs out here sometimes. Enjoyed the part where he was asked about his pathway to PSU, and answered how our coaches won't sugar-coat how things will be vs. "some other coaches."

Tangentially--here's a cocktail made in Aruba that has sugar in it--I imagine you could coat the rim of the glass w/ sugar too if you wanted to:

I had heard Pyles interviewed Starocci too. If we don't see the evidence soon, perhaps Cael required editorial control before agreeing to the interviews. I could see Carter going a little too hard for comfort in his commentary, lol.

Looking forward to it. Seems like only those wrestling NWCA all star event may have been interviewed. Sort of surprised the interviews aren't behind Flo paywall, but maybe that was negotiated.

Just a guess, but this might be a positive (unanticipated) effect of the Supreme Court NIL ruling -- if I were a college athlete, I would refuse any paywalled interview (unaffiliated with my school or team), and instead grant interviews to competing media that allow me to receive unfettered publicity.

I did notice Bartlett was using the bow and arrow a ton to try to get turns at U23 which is good ...

I'm not worried about him knowing enough attacks at neutral ... the only concern is if he's willing to actually pull the trigger.

When he DOES shoot, he’s actually very effective.

It would be a really strange twist to see BB suddenly become a pinner, decking dudes left and right.

Another interesting (and awesome) tidbit from Kerkvliet's interview is (and obviously things can change) that he plans to take all 3 remaining years of his eligibility. I always felt that was a long shot between his MMA and freestyle goals but I'm guessing Cael giving flexibility (and NIL) is why he plans to keep wrestling for PSU.

Micah's an honorary member of the wrestling team. It's bananas that a baseball player towers over him like this.

Production eventually trumps the fashion show in football. In jr high and high school the kids who look the part in pads get first crack at the positions and only get supplanted after proving to be a failure. Or daddy ball takes over and never come out. Production rules the wrestling world day 1 as the fashion show ends at the first whistle. This is why wrestling is the greatest sport.

A quick google says the average Iranian salary is 7K a year so that 16K goes a lot farther there than it does here.
True, though that might be less of a concern for the wrestlers. Despotic regimes often lavish perks onto their national athletes: salary, performance bonuses, housing, cars, food, medical, etc.

He who talks in the 3rd person is correct.

Was making fun of the "@wrestdag (and google translate)" part of Spey's post.

Why not "translate" the currency?

1 million and 500K rubles sounds like something worthy of weighing potential sanctions against. $16K not so much.

My wife was listening to me watch these interviews and asked who the idiot was doing the interviews. I’ve never heard worse. It was painful to listen to while at the same time hearing our guys tell their stories was great.

I does seem a little like CP may not approve of Carter's self-confidence, in that jealous sort of way, of course.

I watched all eleven of the video segments. Carter's personality, drive and outlook on life are unique. It will be interesting to see if those things change as he continues down this road we call life. Cael and the staff are sometimes accused of only pursuing wrestlers that could be stereotyped as polite, professional, humble, and just a little bland. Them pursuing Carter shows that is not the case. I believe the coaching staff feels comfortable bringing in wrestlers who don't quite fit the mold as long as they don't see any character issues.

Carter, like almost every Penn State wrestler who I have seen interviewed, has great things to say about Coach Casey. I believe everyone on the coaching staff is secure enough as men to allow their wrestlers to work within their own unique personalities. That bodes well for the types of athletes who will be joining the program in the future. The above video segment is the one I found most interesting. Carter discusses his future wrestling and MMA plans, whether he will stick around to potentially compete for a fifth NCAA title, what freestyle weight he plans on pursuing in 2023 and 2024 and other items.

Not worthy of it's own string on this board. Let's hope this marks the beginning of a great era, the Kenny Pickett era. The next 4 weeks is a meat grinder don't expect to much, just sit back and enjoy what's coming.
