Don't know for closest to undefeated 4x champ. But just yesterday I read in AWN that Dewayne Keller (Oklahoma St) was career undefeated 2x champ going into the 1971 finals of his Sr year and lost to Oregon State's Roger Weigel after being up 6-2 in the bout. He would have been a career undefeated 3x champ (back when you could only wrestle varsity 3 years).
No f’in doubt. Been watching 50+ years and this be that one I’ll go to The grave smilin about!

One thing I love about college women…. No matter how old I get, they all stay the same age.
It's difficult to compare more recent wrestlers with wrestlers from Uetake's era who couldn't wrestle as freshmen and had much more abbreviated schedules. Uetake going 58-0 across 3 years compared to Cael going 159-0 in 4 years.
