I don't agree with your moving the original thread. It started out as s discussion about compliance and football and partially evolved towards the end into a discussion about regulation in society as a whole. It was not a long thread and the "political" posts were probably about ten.
Personally, I was having a good time with it. No one posted a word of complaint. With all the DRIVEL that survives in some threads, I was very annoyed that the post was moved. I think it was completely unnecessary.
