Which is one of two things that made me feel old today. First, I was in for the 200th birthday. Second, during a cake-cutting ceremony today, the youngest Marine was introduced as having been born in 1997. I retired in 1996!

Either age has fogged my memory or simply a typo(I hope)2nd bat 9TH Marines, Quang tri, Danang, Chulai..A very, very long time ago but, never forgotten..

And thanks for posting this reminder. I sent a happy birthday wish to a friend who served with the Marines in Viet Nam as a helicopter gunner. He has some significant health problems probably from Agent Orange exposure. He was surprised that I knew about the date and grateful.
I used to joke with you "jarheads" but respected you guys a lot. A-4, Charlie Deuce, Dong Ha, Mi Loc, Cam Lo, etc. '69-'70.
