Wittlake and Bravo Young commit

Why would Fix be out? These two are HS juniors and Fix is a senior.
Next year, State has Manville, N. Lee, and Nevills coming in and still in it for Fix and Berge. For the junior class, Carr, Stevenson/Nevills still out there.

My guess...Gable knows where he's going and it's not PSU. Clearly he's friends with RBY and if he was gonna go to PSU then he'd have jumped on the Whit/RBY announcement to do it alongside them for the ultimate commitment package!

I think he's just having some fun with his buddies (and many of us) on twitter...I have 0 inside info though!

I feel like after Nick burned a chance at a possible 6th year and AJ committed to PSU, Seth is pretty much a lock - do you sign the #1 over the #2 ranked heavy at risk of upsetting the apple cart? Would be interesting though as Cael did have a commitment from the #2 heavy (Haines) before and risked upsetting the hometown crowd by recruiting the #1 heavy (Nevills) anyway...

Both guys commit to the good guys. Video just posted on flo

You have Bo Nickal, Mark Hall and now Travis Whittlake. It's like the reincarnation of David Taylor, Ed Ruth and Quentin Wright. Once in a generation... redux.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but unlike DT, Ruth & Q, I don't think Bo, Hall & Wittlake will ever all be in the same lineup at once.

Unless if Wittlake wrestles at 184 as a true freshman and Bo bumps to 197 as a senior.

I think we could see that happen. Much can happen in three years.... but my point was... getting that kind of talent on one team was supposed to be once in a generation. Not so much any more at Penn State.

i.e.... Zain Retherford, Jason Nolf, Bo Nickal, Nick Suriano, Cenzo Joseph, Mark Hall next year, Travis Whittlake in two years. Trajectory... still climbing.

You are correct. Whittlake is coming on to replace Nickel when he graduates.

Could someone tell me what schools are on Gable's shortlist
Willie or CP or our upper midwest friends could answer this more definitively, but that list has to start with the Goofers. He's from there, his brother wrestles there, they're historically very good at developing heavies, and they'll need one. (He's moving up to 285 this year, so college 197 seems unlikely.)

The other schools I heard were part of the supposed package deal with RBY -- so much for that -- but here goes anyway: Tan Tom seems out after landing Singletary. Would Jackson really go after him if Colbray does move up? Arizona State and Nebraska both make more sense.

Iowa would make sense too, though I'm not sure about the interest level. If they don't get him, they'll be all in on Schultz the next year.

No idea about the Pokes or any other schools.

And they commit on a glorious PSU football day. Congrats to our newest members of the team.

WE ARE!
Took the words right out of my mouth. I've noticed over the years that my weekends (in terms of sports) tend to be all good or all bad (actually, what it probably is is that I only notice it when it lines up like that, but who cares) and after the surprise commits today, I should have known something special was brewing for the white-out. I'd suggest you all bet big on the Eagles tomorrow...

Cael Sanderson continued to roll on the recruiting trail with two top-5 verbal commits for the 2018 class on Saturday in Travis Wittlake Jr. and Roman Bravo-Young. They made their announcement together in a video posted on Flo Wrestling that you can view here.

Currently, Penn State has three top-10 ranked wrestlers committed for 2018, as they join No. 10 Joe Lee (2017 commit Nick Lee's brother)

TRAVIS WITTLAKE JR.
Wittlake is currently the 4th-ranked wrestler overall for the 2018 class by Flo Wrestling. He is competing at 170 pounds in high school, but he projects to be a 184-197 wrestler in his collegiate career. Wittlake is coming off of a very successful summer where he won USA Wrestling's Cadet Freestyle and Greco-Roman titles in Fargo.

ROMAN BRAVO-YOUNG
Bravo-Young is currently the 5th-ranked wrestler overall for the 2018 class by Flo Wrestling. Currently competing at 126 pounds, Bravo-Young projects to be a 133-141 wrestler in his collegiate career. He is also coming off of a successful summer where he won Cadet Freestyle gold in Fargo at 54 kg, where he beat Jordan Decatur 13-2 TF and 8-2 in the best of 3 finals.

I think the development of the NLWC and the expansion of same w the army program and titan mercury and the Penn RTC close by aren't getting the credit for the high level freestylers coming in from out of state.

Our staff is quality but very visionary as well.

What is the setup with the Army, Penn RTC and Titan? Please explain. Is it just workout/ training partners? Financial support? There are also some international wrestlers around. Are they thru any of these orgs or are they NLWC or are they "hanging out"? No doubt this is getting bigger and bigger.

It's not all together.

Army team co-located at NLWC.
Titan Mercury sponsoring athletes like David Taylor who remain at NLWC.
Penn a new RTC, mentioned due to relative proximity, guys in either club can train with the other as a day trip.

As far as practice partners for the PSU guys, our coaches, the NLWC Resident Athletes and the Army WCAP Wrestlers, all help our guys. Practice time is countable and limited to 20 official hours/week to balance academics, so they're not there every practice or anything like that. Our coaches do a great job managing practice time.

Does dodge ball count against practice time :)

Hope everyone took my advice. It was always a lock.

Special thanks to RBY and Wittlake for making it all possible.

I took that bet. :)

Great news!! Welcome!

Cubs. Lions. And two future Lions, all in one day!!!!

There was no suspense about the Cubs. We knew back in 1989 that they would be in the World Series around this time frame. The prediction was for 2015, but it was only a year off.

Here is a really cool synopsis on the history of Sunnyside High School wrestling where RBY goes. At one point, they won 29/32 of the past state championships since 1979 which got started under Don Klostreich, Richard Sanchez, Bobby DeBerry and is now coached by Anthony Leon. It wasn't uncommon to see a guy from Sunnyside who won three state titles driving a beer truck the year after graduation until Bobby DeBerry came over from Canyon Del Oro. He started having guys wrestle year around and got a lot of guys into D-1 schools (the Gallicks and the Larkins)...plus, he was a really good guy. The Sunnyside district is a poor community, largely hispanic, but man do they love their wrestlers. Spyker...you weren't too far off. RBY's Dad wrestled for Apple Valley.
