Saw that they announced the final 10 members to complete the World Cup team for next weekend. Nickal on the team at 86kg with Taylor, but, no Zain? Anyone know why Zain would be left off? They have Stieber at 65kg with McKenna as his back up. Strange as Zain is the returning World team member at that weight. Only reasons I can think of being left off are 1) he declined or 2) maybe busy with classes prior to graduation. Any thoughts?

Despite winning the championship, I swear he didn't seem quite right the last couple matches at nationals. Maybe Zain is dealing with a lingering injury?

Not just the 4 years of college wrestling, he was also very active in free style this past summer and fall.
I was wondering if he was banged up. For the first time he had a knee pad on. He did not look like his normal self. He has been going two yrs straight.
The finals for Zain was a slight under achieve against a lower seed, I think we all expected a major or TF especially in view of last year's finals massacre, and what was at stake for the team race. That said Zain delivered thoughout, and despite the lack of bonus, he still applied an acceptable amount of pain.
Speaking of pain, Nolf's semi was a thing to behold, one of the few times I sensed there was more to that story than has been told, he was either pissed from a prior engagement or wanted to send a clear message to tOSU; 15-0 filled with end to end shoulder dislocating action. I thought I was watching a Steven Segal movie.
As a team, I will say we were a little short on the bonus this year. I think both Iowa and tOSU out bonused us which was an aberration.

Not sure about Iowa. But Ohio state was aided by 4 Bonus points from MFFs. In actual matches they did not out bonus PSU
