Wrestle Offs

If Cortez can get to 133, Cael could take a page from Ryan's play book. Let Keener carry part of the load during the season.

If that were to happen, would that mean that we've lost the privilege to complain about tan Tom doing it? I suppose we could continue to do it, for the sake of tradition. ;)

Just being theoretical here...if a wrestler wants to go to a lower weight to wrestle, and he's within his cert, generally speaking they get the coaches blessing...then go for it. It's already happened.

Gotta agree Roar. If it's ok with the athlete, and the staff is good with it, why not?

I think Keener beats Cortez if he drops. Not being mean but just did not see anything from him to make me believe he can beat Keener. Plus Keener near my area so rooting for him hard to start and make the podium.

Schuylkill county?

Curious as to why there is an assumption that Carpenter, Giannangeli and others are written off at 133? If Kenner or Corte earns it then ok by me.

Yeah he is from Blue Mountain and we are pretty close to that area. Plus Todd Kindig( Josh Kindigs Dad)was the coach there. We ended up going to a club he ran a bit and man all I can say he was an amazing coach and he treated my boys and family with great respect. Mr Kindig was especially nice to my oldest even though he was the least talented in that room at the time. Funniest, hardest working, and talented coach I ever seen, and he did some really cool stuff for us. So yeah I am rooting for Keener.

It's pretty simple. Carpenter went 1-12 for PSU last season and Giannangeli is 15-16 in two seasons of open tournaments. So it's not like either has been impressive. Keener, meanwhile, is at least a 3X NCAA qualifier and has a respectable college record (55-37). Cortez has yet to shown much in college, but he hasn't wrestled all that much either, and was a Top 10 P4P guy coming out of high school.

Yeah. Carpenter is not a good D1 wrestler. I get that people love his spirit, but he probably rivaled Caleb Livingston for the distinction of "worst wrestler the staff had ever seen" when he first stepped on campus

Giannangeli shows some promise. He has one good move from neutral.

Blue Mountain is a District 11 team but truly sits out by itself compared to the Lehigh Valley and Pocono teams.
I talked to Coach Kindig a couple of times at Districts ,he was a nice guy.
Always had a lot of admiration for him and his son. They never ran from Oliver. I think two years in a row they went head to head in District finals. They could have gone up a weight and had better chance.
They were good bouts but Oliver would normally hit one big move to win to win by a couple of points.
Both ended up at Oklahoma State.

If Keener is at 133 he's going to need to pick up his game. His record shows that he's about 1-20 lifetime against top-25 wrestlers. Week in week out in the Big Ten he'll be facing tougher competition than he did at Central Michigan.
