My TV has the ability to download apps from an app store. It includes all of the big names (Hulu, amazon, netflix, HBO, Starz, Showtime, ABC/CBS/NBC, HGTV, etc.)

You didn’t mention PlayStation Vue and Sling, the streaming stations we are talking about. My three-year-old smart TV has all those apps too, but not the streaming services. You can’t access any of those without a subscription of some type (be it direct with Netflix, for example, or, say DirecTV, for the networks). A Fire Stick makes it a true smart TV to stream channels.

Are you saying you can access those services with a Fire Stick without a subscription?
