Just looked over his write-up on the Bronco wrestling site. Excellent prospect coming out of HS in Utah. Spent some time at OTC and on a mission. Plagued by injuries last three years.

Is he good enough to allow the incoming freshman to RS next year?

BOISE STATE CAREER

Began the season as Boise State's starter at 133 pounds, going 2-0 before missing the remainder of the season due to injury...Won by a technical fall (18-2) in Boise State's dual against Purdue (Nov. 18)...Won by a pin (1:51) in Boise State's win over Utah Valley (Dec. 10). . . . 2nd Team Pac-12 All-AcademicRS SOPHOMORE (2015-16): Missed nearly the entire season with an injury, but returned to the line-up in a dual against Stanford (Feb. 11)…was 5-3 on the season, including a pair of pins and a major decision…made the move to 133 pounds, then started the team’s final four duals at the weight class, going 2-2…represented the Broncos at the Pac-12 Championships, going 3-1 to finish third.
RS FRESHMAN (2014-15): Went 6-5 during his collegiate debut, with injuries keeping him to only dual action throughout the regular season...Broncos' primary starter at 125 pounds went 6-4 in dual action, including a pair of victories over ranked opponents...pinned 16th-ranked Trey Andrews of Northern Colorado (2:40), and earned a 7-3 decision over 15th ranked Evan Silver of Stanford...represented Boise State at the Pac-12 Championships, but he defaulted due to injury in his opening match...named Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team.

If Carson Kuhn can get down to 125, after previously starting at 133, good idea. He appears to have not transferred to another D1 school.

If the rumor is about Boise's starter last year at 125, he's since transferred to Kent State.

Those are the only 2 guys on Boise's roster last year at 125 or 125/133.

EDIT: if it's Kuhn, worth trying, but I wouldn't have huge expectations out of the gate. He's had signiificant injury history, plus B10 125 is stacked, so he's not a sure NCAA qualifier this year.

If it's Kuhn, the dude has been injured A LOT. Has only wrestled around 25 matches the last three seasons due to injuries.

it was my impression that we were hoping to RS one of RBY/Teasdale/Teske next year and have the other two at 125/133, then RS a different one the following year, and see how the weights pan out the year after that.

if this BSU kid wants to come here for 1 semester, compete for the 125 slot this season, then graduate, great. i'd imagine we have some extra scholarship money left over from suriano for this season since we only brought in keener afterwards.

but we have to be getting close to the budget for 18-19 and i doubt this kid would be worth allocating dollars to for his RS senior season when we have the lightweight recruits coming in.

Beard grayshirting gives some flexibility next year.

The person who is coming is healthy and has been wrestling with the NLWC recently.
It's Gordon Donaway. Wrestled in DIII a little bit. One year of eligibility remaining.

There was a guy who wrestled for Guam. But I think he's well past his clock, too big, and he's at VT's RTC

I really am stumped.

This was my Christmas Wish! Hope it comes true. We NEED a 125 lber who can score at least a few points at Nationals. It may come down to that.

I thought I had it. Thought for sure it was Brent Fleetwood

He's a "few points at nationals" guy
0-0 record this year
Former teammate/workout partner of Keener

But no Idaho ties
Also he transferred to NDSU in the fall.

When does 2nd semester start ? Or can they join the team on 1/1/2018 and partake in the scuffle ?

I hope Scnupp beats the guy. Kid has been classy to watch, knowing he has/will be overmatched in most matches this year. Keener has been fun to watch, seems like a good kid and is from PA. I know Suriano left a gaping hole with respect to world domination, but I would like to see some kids who put in their time (on their own dime) get a few matches as well. I wouldn’t bring a kid in unless he can participate for 2 years. Hired guns are for the pros, not college. I feel the same way about the trend in football.
