Cael and Casey were walking around, that I saw. I probably ran across 20+ college's coaches today, alone. Pretty cool.

D'Emilio form Ohio was pretty impressive.
Busiello had a "tough" tournament (finishing 5th... tough... wow).
Gomez was very fun to watch.
Other than his loss to Lamont, Jones from Shakopee was fun to watch. He's gonna be a good one.
Hong wasn't any too offensive, but very controlled and wrestled well.
I don't know if Wohlabaugh from FL is ranked, but he's had a heck of a tournament.
Ramirez from Louisiana... If he tunes up things and tightens the screws somewhere, he's gonna be great. Super fun to watch.
Embree from MI could be the real deal. Very powerful and isn't afraid to try things.
Keegan Moore from MN wasn't gonna make 182, and they didn't have room at 195, so he basically bumped up two weights and made the finals at 220. Colbray will probably handle him, but still.

That's about the gist of it. I watched a lot of matches. I really don't prefer Colton Schultz from CO. I really hope PSU doesn't go after him. Braxton Amos... Wow.

Also, slightly homer, but Daniel Kirkvliet from MN (Simley like Jake Short, Nick Wanzek...) is going to be special. Gave Amos a heck of a match in the quarters.

Also, Alex Thomsen lost his first round and battled back to the third place match. Tomorrow will be his twelfth match. Wow.

Curious, why thumbs down on Schultz? Also, how much of his finals win was a size/strength difference, or something else? Hard for me to interpret that score, knowing how fast Hoffman is growing (was 170 the entire 2015 season).

I don't think PSU goes after Schultz unless somehow Big Snacks falls thru and then Steveson is off the table.

Schultz seems like a ego problem. Lots of extra shoves and stuff. I don't know. Rubbed me the wrong way. And him and Gable went back and forth last year around that stuff.

To add on, I really think Hoffman is a stud and he was mostly just out muscled and outsized here. I think Schultz is better but not as much as it seemed today

ISU has a few pretty nice looking recruits. Please be healthy, eligible, crime free, etc. The glass seems pretty half empty these days....but you are saying we have a chance!

Just watched Lee vs McKee and Happel. Comparisons to Nolf spot on; Style wise and gas tank. Looks like he has upped his game for his senior year just like Jason as well.

And note that his battle with Chad Red came after a season where he was laid up for half of it with a back injury.

What was the back injury? A one off episode? Just needed some rest? I hear bad back and I go right to Cutch. Back always concerns me along with shoulders.

I just reviewed some old threads discussing Lee where there was a fear he wasn't "elite". This was after we didn't land Red.

I think he's pretty much proved himself this year.
Cael has an uncanny ability to see the ultimate potential in hs kids 2-3 years out both on the mat and in life. There are some elite kids out there that for some reason Cael isn't necessarily interested in, and I'm always willing to give that benefit of the doubt to him. He's probably seen each kid dozens of times on tape and at tourneys to know what package he'd be getting.

Ditto that. Probably one of the hardest things to do. I know my track record of projecting the college results of HS wrestlers stinks.

think it's more than what's on the mats.

Thanks for the "man on the scene" updates, Crop. Color me green with envy. You may have some company next year, Dude. I just need to settle a traffic in Brainerd. ;)
I've broken so many laws behind the wheel in Fargo\Moorhead over the last couple of days. Most of them in front of cops. I'm winning, to be honest. Just hope those intersection cameras aren't plugged in.

Also, I got a 5+ hr drive home, after finals, so I'll probably post a recap or something, when I get home with some Hardee's in my belly.
Shouts out to Hardee's.

Nick Lee will beat Red in college !!!! Bet he beats him pretty good too...Our room in UNREAL and Cael is without question the best all around Coach in the world !!!! Other big time Coaches are trying to change their style to keep up...He makes wrestling fun but at the same time gets 110 % out of his guys on and off the mat....TEACHES A GREAT LIFESTYLE NO OTHER COACH IN THE WORLD TEACHES...SUPER LUCKY TO HAVE HIM AND THE OTHER COACHES WHO DON'T GET ENOUGH CREDIT

The "other" PSU coaches get tons of credit, except from a couple Iowa fans ;).
Lots of other coaches teach a "great lifestyle" (in other words, helps wrestlers grow as human beings).
Nick Lee may beat Chad Red in college, but there's no basis that he'll beat him handily.

But then I guess most of you knew those things.

Roar...IMO..I think other Coaches do teach better life styles...It's just hard to explain Cael unless your in the room seeing it for your own eyes....I try to make it in once a week....I will bet you Nick Lee beats Red in college by 4 or 5 points....That's if they are even at the same weight....Yes our entire Coaching staff is unreal !!!!

Teasdale was dead to rights there in a deep head and arm headlock but credit to him for fighting it off and keeping his composure to come back and win.
