2017 Recruiting Class Thread

So does this class have any gaps? It looks like 3 linebackers, good OL recruiting, very good defensive backs, a couple of receivers, great QB and running back prospects, but only one defensive tackle. Are any positions an issue? I don't follow this as closely as most and rely on this board for my info and pics of half naked women. Opinions?

TE maybe, but with 2 in the next class already...maybe it was something they were kicking around. It would have been nice to add that additional DT as well,,,,but oh well.

I think there are a couple underrated kids, a couple projects, and few top notch players at the jump. I would have liked one more DT as you point out. Combined with the top heavy class we got last year and the all round possibly #1 overall class next year. 2019 should see us right back in thick of the college football playoff hunt.

Edit: Also, the speed in this class is something we haven't seen in a really long time in one class to get this many 4.4 guys, with a few under 4.4 even.

PSU up to #10 in Rivals Team rankings. Also #10 when you sort by Avg Recruit Ranking. Probably done so we may drop a little bit with the late verbals of other schools. Very, very impressive job by the staff when you consider the circumstances. Negative recruited like crazy starting in December 2015, coming off of 7-6 seasons, the press driving the hot-seat bullshit until October. To come up with a class that is this good with 80% of the year spent dealing with that negativity is tremendous. Now we're set to really clean up in the 2018 and 2019 classes. Ohio State had a historic 2017 class, but we're right there with Michigan in average recruit ranking, 3.65 to 3.58.

CJF has a history of a few surprises in the last couple of days. Maybe we'll see that TE from IN in the class yet. And if CJF does not land Castro-Fields, who know what position his replacement in the class might play.

I seem to remember seeing someone here say that the IN TE looked like a great potential LB/DE prospect as well.

I just don't believe this class will sit at the 19 so far committed by Thursday....

On another note, with Brooks having such a keen interest in PSU and even with Rivers, PSU really needed another inside LB on the roster, I wonder why CJF didn't just go after Brooks earlier and address LB depth in a bigger way even with the limited class size.........

Unbelievable class, but who's gonna be their coach in 2018

CUM. Pretty sure that's not changing anytime soon.

Harbaugh is a complete wild card so that's always within at least the realm of reason. But Meyer?

Know he's a longshot, but Elijah Conliffe will be deciding at 3:30 tomorrow between Penn State, Florida, and Tennessee.

He wants to study civil engineering. Here is what he said about his Penn State visit: “The visit was really good. I loved the atmosphere of the place on game day. Just like the first time. My family loved it more than anywhere I’ve been.”

Conliffe is definitely going to be a test of whether a recruit's actions or words matter more. He probably talks about us the most glowingly, but he hasn't been here in months in favor of other schools.

Hendershot and Bolds the last two possibles, after that it's plan B, or a late surprise.

I'll go with "Late Surprise", to make it an even 20 and a top 15 finish!

In the case of "William Hendershot" don't mess with him if he shows up as "Will Munny."
