2018 Recruiting Thread

Here's my take on Oweh.

Parsons either doesn't know where Oweh is going, knows he going to tOSU or knows he's going to PSU.

If he's going to tOSU, Parsons wouldn't be tweeting. If he doesn't know, I think he'd tweet differently. By that, I mean he wouldn't be working Oweh on social media. So it seems to me that Parsons knows and Oweh is going to PSU. We'll see.

Tyreke Smith already told team he committed to of his decision over 3 weeks ago but did not sign. Said he's good to go on that team. Think that may favor us with the way Urb has been trying to sell Larry Johnson though it may be for Oweh and Friday.

Anyone else read the article that said the Smith has committed and told the coach that he committed to, but not the 4 or his 5 finalists that he did not commit to? Together with Parsons tweet that PSU already has one of the two DE's (Oweh and Smith), could this add up??

Yes I would think so unless Oweh did the same. Oweh always seemed more likely to commit so if we get both Urb's head will explode.

It would be great to get both Reke Havoc and Oweh, Oweh far beyond the field of play on Saturdays. Both these guys are great students with family behind them. I think both of them would become outstanding PSU ambassadors. If one or both go to the Dark side..... well, I would still wish them well, except for one game a year.

Again, PSU with best remarks from Tyreke but at end said the school he picked was not because of OV, only thing to me leaving any doubt. He did make a point to say he's not technically from Ohio and people don't get that when predicting where he will go. Would think USC if off the grid. Academics seem high on his list as well as faith. Honestly, seems more like a PSU kid to me than Buckeye and yes there is a difference.

Greg Biggins with the CB yesterday for Oweh to Penn State. He covers the West Coast but he's at the UA game. Good sign, you would think.

After Smith canceled Franklin's in home visit and didn't reschedule it, I would be shocked if he picked Penn State. I guess stranger things have happened.

Stranger things have surely happened, but the Identical thing has actually happened in recruiting over the years. Many recruits have cancelled their last visits with a coach and staff that they feel they are most comfortable and compatible, They then visit other coaches and staffs to compare one last time to the leader. Sometimes they defect and other times they do not.

A highy regarded WR from Lancaster PA from a long time ago, Corey Jones, comes to mind, last season a DB from Maryland comes to mind. Most prognosticators thought Jones as going to ND and with Tariq Castro-Fields many predicted he would sign with Maryland. We know what happened with these two recruits. Of course, many times the opposite occurs. Time will tell and no prognosticator really knows what is in a kids head. Sometimes their parents are even surprised when they choose.

There is a lot of talk on managing 'Ships' and I think JF is doing an amazing job in that area. After the 4 Jan announcements (and PSU hopefully getting good news) would it be wise (or even possible) to have a 'Ship' in hand for that late 4/5 star player surprise?

I admittedly have no special info, just a feeling: We land both Smith and Oweh. Enis too. I’m unsure on Walker.

I'd like to have Oweh, Enis, Walker and Tyler Friday if possible.

Smith would be an added luxury!!

But there may not be 5 openings. Who knows... Maybe only 2 more... CJF will come clean on it all by noon on 2/7 !!

If CJF can make it work, hope he doesn't have to turn away any of those 5 - Oweh, Smith, Enis, Walker and Friday.

Bottom line: Two CB's for each team today.

Nobody really knows what he is going to do at this point.
