2018 Recruiting Thread

Not a bad haul around the region.

Maryland 3 of the top 6 players. Walker, Mustipher, and George
Pennsylvania 5 of top 10 players. Parsons, Kuntz, Dotson, Tarburton, Luketa
New Jersey 2 of the top 5 players. Shorter and Oweh
Virginia 2 of the top 5 players. Slade and Asiedu
Mass top player in the state. Pat Freiermuth

Great to beat OSU for Walker!!!! Need to continue to win more of these battles to be elite....pissed that they still ended up with Nicholas Petit-Friere

Um.... that is what they do for a living. Like it or not, people pay for their insight, analysis, and supposed inside information.

Funny how the other "gurus" seemed to be much more tactful. They might say, I'd be surprised if he didn't announce for XYZ. They still go out of their way to respect the recruit, his family and their process.

Perhaps in this case it required this one individual to abandon the traditions that seem to be in place. If so, I didn't see it.

With all that's come down the pike on this recruitment, it read a lot more like this one individual was too invested in the outcome, it didn't go his way, so he wanted to dump on the ceremony.

Your mileage may vary, of course.

Will Wiltdong get credit for guessing walker to PSU? Seems late to be able to say "i told you so"
Positive results are based on how early the pick goes in. Basically this just saves him from a negative result. Anyone who flipped to PSU in recent days will get 0 points.

its a good point....east with five teams in the top 30, west with one (at 24).

Yes but worth keeping in mind that Iowa, Wisconsin, NW punch way above their recruiting star rankings -- and Nebraska used to. If Nebraska ever rediscovers their mojo, the West doesn't look so bad.

The west has some issues...there is no fertile recruiting area for the most part. Neb and dip into that KC and St Louis area that produces some kids every year, but other than Chi town...it's hard for these guys to keep up with everyone else. They can still win plenty of games, but it's going to get harder and harder for the west to produce a BT champ. It will happen in time, but it seems like it will be around 20% of the time.

Nicholas Petit-Frere looks good and quick in pass coverage in his video, but needs to add 30-40# to be a run blocker. He is the size of a DE. We'll see how quick he is at his eventual playing weight. Walker, on the other hand, looks ready to play Div 1 football. Big AND fast. Not sure how NP-F is ranked #1 OT, and Walker is #6-8(??????).

It’s over. What to do now? :(

Wait! 2019.

This has been a hell of a thread - from Parsons to Fields to Oweh and Walker; great job by everyone who takes the time to share news and offer insight. But, it’s over now -

Alright, you twisted my arm. Let's give Rutgers to the West. They can give us anything (and I'll literally mean "anything") in return.
