2019 NCAAs -- Session 6 Thread

REPOST:
I'm so overjoyed for ANTHONY CASSAR!!! Definition of PERSEVERANCE!!!!

Benched in 2018... and only comes back and makes the Finals in 2019. What an incredible story. Dear JESUS.

After the match... Anthony said... "I'm so grateful to put this Penn State singlet on" after everything he's been through... NO ANTHONY.... We're so damn grateful as fans to have you as our unselfish heavyweight to cheer you on to a possible National Title tomorrow night. Damn... I'm so PROUD of that YOUNG MAN!!!!! And I thought James Englishes story couldn't be topped. Looks like I'll be making a place in my collective memory for a heavyweight hero who shined on the biggest of stages with the LARGEST of HEARTS!!! Damn... ANTHONY...

POSTSCRIPT: And NOW... Your 2019 NATIONAL CHAMPION... ANTHONY CASSAR.

Can't see Lewis being at 165 next year. Dude is huge.
This is your guys' version of the flu/mono. Every guy who beats a Penn State guy in the finals is huge. There was actually a question of Lewis being at 157 this year because they had AA McFadden at 165. I'd expect him back at 165 next year.

For real. Both refs said he hooked the ankle and he actually never did... confirmed on replay

Hall was gassed their in the third. Valencia is just so huge, Hall cannot get to any type of shot. Can only really score points off of counters and scrambles against Valencia. No idea how he makes weight.

I did NOT see Valencia as having that takedown. The ankle was not hooked as far as I could see. Cael was right to challenge.

Berge, Shak, Hall...all lost because they didn’t shoot...don’t get me wrong, accomplished a ton...but at that level, and given the stage...gotta shoot/score!!!

I think Hall and Valencia are equally matched... I wouldn’t be surprised to see another tight match between them in next year’s finals.

Two phenomenal wrestlers. Bummer to see Mark come up short. I was disappointed that he waited so long to go in the 3rd period. Oh well, hopefully, Bo can finish things off on a high note.
I think it was strategic, wait to get the TD with a manageable amount of time to ride him out. Could have decided that he better not go to OT. Just a theory

I really hate to bitch and moan when a PSU guy loses, but Mark didn't lose that match. The takedown that was awarded to Valencia was VERY questionable and he positively ran away for the entire third period. It's hard to get a decent shot off when your opponent is always 6 feet away and backing up. Not taking anything away from Valencia, if the refs don't call it until 20 seconds left in the match, you can't really blame him. Just responding to those here who are criticizing Mark for his lack of offense.
