A very nice start obviously (I'm even wondering whether some of the juggernaut teams ever had 87.5% of the R1 wins as bonus), and one that could have been a stunning one with a little better officiating on the Iowa side of the bracket. Perhaps it would be an exercise better saved for after round 2, but I'd love to see someone smarter than me provide an updated "team pathway" analysis.

Wrestlestat has PSU losing a couple in this round, but it's certainly not outside the realm of possibility that PSU wins them all. Let's go.

Truthfully, it's pointless to analyze until after Session 3 at the earliest and we know where everyone stands. Plenty of teams have hung around PSU's juggernauts early on. Opponents gets tougher and tougher and after Session IV is when it becomes clear who is the best team.

That was probably a perfect Session 1 though for us (I don't think perfection could have given Joe the win over Wittlake)

I didn’t get to see the Kerk match
Did he look Bigger? Remember the two wks prior to bigs he was gaining weight back. Curious if he looked stronger

I missed it because I was watching Michael's but 16 first period near fall points is probably a sign he made some progress since Big Tens.

Most happiest regarding Howard. Joe. Joe will get it. He just needs to be smarter. He takes too many chances for no reason. That's also why he will be great going forward. He simply needs to be more measured.

Asked in the other thread but didn't see an answer - does anyone know what Kerk weighed in at?

I think that goofy stalling call in the first messed with his head.

Freshman mistake right? started pressing once he wasn't able to get openings and getting pushed out (with the stall call)... next time the push was coming he went for it. With a full season i would suggest he would have waited until the 3rd for that 'chance'. But I think you're right.. the stall call got him to start pressing. Now WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT IF HE DOES WHAT HIS BROTHER DID WHEN HE LOST IN THE FIRST ROUND!! Go Joe!

you shoulda included him spewing the latin phrases. otherwise, the appropriate meme is judge smails telling spaulding he gets nothing, or judge smails telling dangerfield "i owe you nothing"

Question those of you watching. I am at school and cannot watch. I have a former student/player of mine wrestling for VA his name is Justin McCoy at 157. He lost his first round match at the buzzer. Did any of you guys see the match and did he get the takedown at the end or not? thx
I thought it was a TD for McCoy. BTW, i thought the announcer said McCoy was from New Paris, PA? Didn't know he was a "city" guy, wink. Do you teach at Bedford or Chestnut Ridge?

That whole scene in the office is creepy (and great). Note that Charlie, as an adolescent, would not have had capacity to enter into a binding contract - but I digress
