2021 NCAAs

I like our draws for Session 3. We could and should win every one of them other than Kerkvliet who has Gable Steveson at HWT. 125 Howard has nice path back too.
While I still would put my money on the Hawks for the overall, this is a potentially a pretty high leverage session.

I only count 7 scorers in your Gif. Someone not make weight?

Wow. Beard facing the best path possible on the top side.
I know Woodley is the 26 seed, but I look for this to be a very tough bout for Beard. Woodley has a solid resume, despite the 7 losses. They are to #3 seed Norfleet, 3 losses to #4 seed Ferarri, 2 losses to #9 seed Adams, and a loss to #13 seed Sloan. It's certainly a winnable bout for Beard, just stay focused and wrestle with great energy. WE ARE!

wrestlestat predictions:

125 Fabian Gutierrez over Robert Howard 7 - 5
133 Roman Bravo-Young over Louie Hayes 10 - 3
141 Nick Lee over Zach Sherman 9 - 5
157 Brady Berge over Jesse Dellavecchia 7 - 4
174 Carter Starocci over Andrew McNally 12 - 3 MD
184 Aaron Brooks over Taylor Venz 9 - 8
197 Michael Beard over Jake Woodley 7 - 6
285 Gable Steveson over Greg Kerkvliet 15 - 4 MD

6 to the semis? I'll take that. At the very least we will have the Hawks attention.

BTW, I assume R2 and R3 of consolations will be wrestled this morning. Am I correct?

that's just a flat-out ignorant statement.

Exactly! He is a LEE! The kid likes to mix it up with anyone like his brother. He needs more strength like Robbie Howard but you can see that he has the warrior heart. He just made some bad decisions this year that he can easily learn from. If he goes beast mode in the room this off season with his brother and Cael/Casey, I bet he will be an All-American next year. I am wondering if he can make weight at 157 and take over for Brady? See if Starocci can get down to 165 and then Facundo can come in next year at 174? Just a thought?

IMO the club site was under siege because flo’s latest BS of putting basic info behind a paywall.....sending more people than normal looking for brackets.

the NCAA website has no problem keeping active brackets for basketball but wrestling is nowhere to be found....at least by me.
that's one thing, among many others, i miss about not being there; bracket updates. can't follow other matches on tv, and i can't find updated brackets anywhere. checked the walls at home, but no luck

definitely a fun day of wrestling, and PSU did very well.

her @RoarLions1, @NoVa Lion, @HOCKEYGOD11 and the rest of you guys that go to Nationals each year -- what's it like watching from your home, and being a part of the threads?
Don't forget tikk, and hopefully pawrestlerintn!! The five of us will be together today and tomorrow, along with several of the Mrs.'s (is that plural for Mrs.?).

Keep doing what you are doing, Tom, and all you reasonable fans. Too bad three or four posters try to ruin the mood of this place and the community that enjoys it so. When I think of yesterday, there was way more good than not-so-good, stay positive and supportive...we have two more days of wrestling.

Beard is a strong and tough man, who looks like he is healthy and well rested. I expect him to go far in this Tourney and be a terror in the future. I love his brutish strength!!

Are you giving up on Berge before the quarterfinals? He'll be our 57 pounder next year and the year after if he chooses. He's going to AA. He's looking great!

Gents: Excellent Day 1! I thought Beard would make a run...and he now has a pretty clean path to the semis and with the way he's wrestling could win it all (anything's possible at 97). That said, it's not much of a stretch to see 5 in the finals and Berge in the semis. Definitely looking like it will be a dogfight to the end. Good luck tomorrow! :)
Back at ya NashHawk. In this bizarro year I’m just happy we can even be in the conversation with your mighty hawks. Wishing health and safety for all the wrestlers today (PLUS a little super strength for PSU 🙏🏻).

Anyone know how to do a split screen while using ESPN3? Tried to do it yesterday for the Beark & Kerk bouts, but could not figure out how to do it.

I’m having an In N Out double-double after Kerk wins this morning. How about the rest of you?

Question for everyone, knowing we all are looking forward to seeing the Penn State guys...

Is there a bout that does NOT have a PSU wrestler that you are looking forward to?

To me...
Two at 141 are intriguing, Woods v Wilson, and Rivera v Hart
Marinelli v Griffith & Wentzel v O'Toole at 165
Bolen v Keckeisen at 184
Warner v Ferarri at 197

Has Stevenson had to defend a HWT that has a laser beam hand on opponents shoelaces?
Not many have taken Jordan Wood to the shed. (See what I did there? Lol).
Anthony slapped Jordan around the year he beat Stevenson on the way to a title.
Just saying?

I have been on the fence about whether to take the lenten fasting dispensation given that it is the feast of st. joseph today (and I'm sorta in a fish and chips mood anyway), but if that happens, there is a high probability that I will join you.

I thought he was done after next year? My bad. Keep Joe at 165. He just needs to hit the weights and grind in the room hard in the offseason. I love Brady. I do get scared with his past concussion problems but he has looked like champ this year.

You're welcome to join my Italian Catholic A** for pasta fagioli and bourbon.

some already mentioned but:
Murin - Lewallen
Mauler - Andonian
Wentzel - O'Toole
Norfleet - Bonaccorsi

He is going to make HR do this:

When he beats Deakin in the semis.

Griffith looks off this year to me. Hope he can take Marinelli out for obvious reasons.

Roar, I love the question. For me, I want to see Warner and Ferarri with Fararri winning. And I never thought I'd pull for him as I don't care for his off mat Bravado.
