2021 NCAAs

Ok State benefitted a ton from good breaks this tournament for sure. Double medical forfeit in blood rounds. Marinelli was going to be on Wittlake's side of wrestlebacks also. The 7 second fiasco. But they can probably flip it and say a few things like Kaid Brock isn't wrestling and Dustin Plott is severely injured right now, etc.

I'm not going to pout over 2nd/3rd when we are looking to be poised to score 100 or more. RBY beats Fix and that basically locks up 2nd. If he loses then so be it, tip your hats to the Pokes.

If I'm not mistaken, our guys have wrestled to their seeds.
Not bad. Could have been slightly better, but not bad.

Iowa - 109
Penn St - 94.5
Okie St - 86.5

Forget about bonus and let's just take placement points.

All PSU has in the medal rounds is Beard & Kerk, both in 7th place matches. Let's say both win & Kerk even majors - that takes PSU to 97.5.

Each final is worth 4 points. Say PSU goes 4-0, that gets PSU to 113.5.

So, Iowa is sitting at 109, still have DeSanto, Warner & Cass. Each win in their first morning matches will be worth 3 pts each (jump from 6th to 4th, worst case). Then a win in their 5th place or 3rd place matches is worth a single point.

I don't have any fancy formula, but realistically, Iowa could lose every single match and PSU could win every single match, and Spencer Lee could still ice the title for Iowa by getting a major.

Let's say something insane happens, and DeSanto + Warner + Cass go 0 for 6 combined, and both Beard & Kerk win & one pins - then it just could be a very interesting Saturday night.
(109 vs 98.5, with PSU still able to earn 16+)

Realistically, if even one of the three Iowa kids takes 3rd tomorrow, they pretty much clinched it w/ Spencer Lee lurking.
You aren't factoring in the nearly guaranteed team point deductions Iowa has coming.

And of your 6 AA’s, 4 are freshman and you still nearly won..... looks like another big run.

I know one HC who told me two years ago that 2021 was the best time to catch PSU and after that, forget it.

just remember, Frank Molinaro finished his first year with a just over .500 record and an AA in the 7th place match. Pretty sure he got better.
Obviously the 2021 date was pre-COVID. As we all know, Iowa conceivably could have their entire line-up back next season. While PSU would be expected to close the gap, that would still be a tough nut to crack.

HR already calling themselves back-to-back champs counting last year. I guess we can let little brother have his fun while the suns shining in Ioway.
Since there was no tournament and we can claim spots/pretend anyway I’m calling 3rd place at 165. Rutger claimed 2nd in the team race with Van Brill champ and Goodale COY

You are correct. The convo was pre Covid.

The math/brackets don't really support all the gloom-and-doom predictions about second place, and even less so after Lewallen's loss. That's the only one of OK State's last four conso bouts where the Cowboy is the higher seed.

Even if we win both our consi bouts and they lose all of theirs we go up 2. They are favored in 2 finals we are favored in one. By seed they win. We have multiple opportunities to change that tonight, but it’ll be close.

Without looking, guess in your head who leads the individual scoring for the tournament. Then look, but don't say.

This was asked last night, but I don't think it was answered: How many PA wrestlers in the finals?

Also, it looks like the ACC has become the second best wrestling conference and about half of their schools don't wrestle.

Don’t worry guys! I’ll do the final PBP! Copy’s already done:
“What a great night 4-0 in the finals again! Let’s just enjoy the rest of the night, up next HWT.

Gable stands in the cylinder. They start Parris entrance music twice but still no Mason. The lights go out. Then come back on, but OH MY GOOD GRAVY! ITS ANT THE CHAMP! CASSAR IS IN THE HOUSE! GABLE’S IN SHOCK!”
You’re welcome.

The announcer just said DeSanto could wrestle all day. He doesn't drink, doesn't party. He doesn't go to the mall. Wait... what? He doesn't go to the mall? Get outta town!! Man, if only I could stay away from the mall I could be an all American too!

Could be why he is such a maladjusted douche?
