2021 Olympic Trials Results and discussion thread

Very sad for Zain.

But hard to be disappointed in any of these people winning. All so good and will represent USA well. Women's matches have been awesome. I am trying to get into Greco so @CropDuster507 will be my friend.

Another Greco match instead of YIANNI VS OLIVER? lol what is going on. Miss zain, Yianni, got to see just the end of Nolf.

Ok so cable sucks lol

They're just staying on Mat 2, so whatever comes on that mat gets broadcast.

Well, that's not true at all. All the offense was McKenna until the second period. And the sucker drag to seal it was offense too. He only hit 2 counters and they were both 2-2, so he won the match with his offense, not counters.
Yeah, he got to Zain's legs with some beautiful shots and converted nearly three times in the first alone, I think.

Yeah, Zain just got outwrestled. No shame in that. McKenna is wrestling out of his mind tonight.

I also think Zain is better in 1 opponent formats when he can execute a gameplan. We've seen him be worse in tournament settings a few times. One reason why PSU is always so money in the finals. They have all day to draw up game plans.

Bottom line is in the second he should have been on the clock. Zain controlled the center and took all the shots. The last score by McKenna was based on pure desperation by Zain at that point. If McKenna goes on the clock, he's forced to not just sit back and counter. If he doesn't and gives up the point then Zain has criteria.

Idk, he didn't run. He stood in there and scrambled and then hit the drag for the win. If they just put him on the clock because he's winning, that just hands the match to zain without making him score.

After these 57kg matches they'll roll into the "1st place" matches in all the classes where there's someone already sitting in the final tomorrow. A bunch of GR and WFS matches before Nolf Dake and Moore Mach. I hope NBC has the good sense to at least put Nolf and Dake on TV though.

Gilman being wisely cautious against Colon, but controlling after 1, up 3-0 on three step outs.
Gilman gets to a leg. walks it OOB and Colon went for the home run, Gilman goes up 7-0.
Gilman gets a few more in garbage time, techs for 10-0.

I'm not taking anything away from JM. He wrestled a smart match. I just felt he shoulda been put on the clock the last minute or so. I'll always default to more action, but it is what it is. Should be a fun finals match up.

In other news, Gilman controlling Colon and Vito controlling Fix. I thought both those semi's would be tight.
