2021 Recruiting Class Thread

U

He has to be CJF next hire!!

Eh, he tried. Either we weren't willing to pay more than what aTm pays (somebody can probably fact-check that), or he's content down there. I'm sure he'd make the move for a DC position, but from DL coach to DL coach......not going to happen.

Looking forward to seeing what Coach Scott can do on the recruiting trail once he's able to get out and about post-pandemic.

Hopefully, once recruiting opens back up, coach Scott can get some of the guys he was recruiting at USC to visit. We could use a couple of DT's & DE's. It has been extra tough because of no time to physically meet many recruits.

True story. Our next D line coach after Scott is already on staff

Bingo.

Barnes was brought on to fix our issues recruiting Philly, especially with the talent there in the '22 cycle. The clout Barnes provides with HS coaches/players is somewhat similar to what Terry Smith gives you in the Pittsburgh area.

I could see Franklin setting up something similar to Clemson on the DL - a dedicated coach for each of interior and DE.

It's why Jeudy looking elsewhere was a bit of a kick in the nuts. I thought Barnes was supposed to position us well for Jeudy.

Regardless, hope it pays off with the 2022 class.

I hope it is kosher with Tom that I say this, but I am 3 months into being behind a pay wall and it is great. Whether you go with Ryan or Sean, either way great information. The biggest thing I have learned, and I won't say which recruits, is that the staff is really selective. There are recruits we have discussed on here that we complain over not getting, but in some cases the staff cooled on them or were never even really going after them. Sometimes we see the 4*s and just think, "oh well the staff must really want them," but it just isn't how it works.

Thought I would pass that along.

"This..!!!"

Under Franklin, this staffs approach to recruiting evaluation and methodology is sophisticated and way too often, we post stuff that is flat out ignorant of that process.

Character, attitude, and academics are never considered here. All priorities, among other characteristics to the staff.
