2021 Recruiting Class Thread

I think we can feel good about this one as it stands now.

We've been the perceived favorite and covid19 hasn't allowed him to make that Oklahoma visit. It will be interesting if he has the opportunity in August if the dead period isn't extended again.
Glad to hear that. Tyler Donohue says the staff is extremely high on Kelvin Gilliam. For some reason I thought KG was trending elsewhere. Here's hoping Kelvin wants to be the next great defensive lineman at Penn State.

Very likely Pitt, for obvious reasons.

Can't blame a kid for staying home and playing where his brother played. But man, when your other two finalists are PSU and LSU.......come on, kid. If you want to experience a major bowl game or be on the winning side of a primetime TV matchup or play in front of a home crowd larger than 30,000 people, Pitt isn't the place to go.

Hope we land Gilliam.

Believe Elliott is Aaron Donald's nephew, not brother, but it seems like they have a pretty close relationship.

Either way, seems like Pitt is the way this had been trending for a while, which makes sense for all of the obvious reasons - hard to go somewhere else when your uncle gave $1M+ to the football program of the hometown school. Playing in front of 30k obviously didn't hurt Aaron, and it looks like it won't hurt their current DT Twyman, either. It is what it is. Gilliam looks like a heck of a DT prospect in his own right, and it'd be great to get good news from him.

Gilliam is one of the players that Caleb Williams is recruiting hard to join him at Oklahoma, so Oklahoma has been recruiting him hard over the past couple of months. But Gilliam has not been able to visit Oklahoma yet, so the lack of visit and an upcoming commitment date looks like potentially good news for Penn State.

You're right -- my mistake on that. A legacy of sorts, nonetheless.

Pitt continues to produce great individual players. I guess we'll have to settle for great individual players......and great teams :) Pitt's mismatch between the NFL stars it has produced and its success on the field is just......special.

Interesting...by the end of today PSU will probably have more recruits from the state of Michigan than any other state, including PA!

We've produced some good kids out of Michigan and I expect that trend to continue. WE ARE!!

You nailed it. I think Donald really likes PSU & staff but when you really think about it - his family member made a $1 million donation to the Pitt program. It would be tough for any person to go a different direction after that.

They probably have no more than 15k in the stands at most "home" games at Heinz Field. The only time they play in front of >30k is when they play Penn State or during a few away games.
