2021 Recruiting Class Thread

Does anyone else notice someone missing from this list?

Aside from the fact that we have nobody on it, the two absences that stuck out to me were Gattis and Dre Bly -- who I thought, based on the way people talk, was a new recruiting juggernaut.

(not that I put a ton of stock in these lists anyway, because it completely discounts the impact the head coach plays in securing a commitment, among many other factors)

I wouldn’t get worked up about it. These lists really mean nothing and are written by people who have slants just like any other journalists.
I'm not worked up just surprised. Seider has brought in some great talent and might be our best recruiter. There's still a lot of time, especially with how those Florida kids flip.

So now we’re going to start complaining about Seider’s recruiting?

I don't think anybody is complaining about it. Jeez.....people are so quick to pounce on others based on a perceived slight.

Seider is certainly a great recruiter. I think we all knew coming in that RB wasn't going to be a priority for this cycle, and Florida is a notoriously tricky place to recruit from. I imagine he'll be more involved in chasing stud RBs in the 2022 class.

Agree with above. Recruit the stud RB for the 2022 class after the high schoolers all watch Journey Brown get drafted early. Besides, we got two ast year.

I’m certain Seidel is working some recruits. He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that would be sitting on his deck sipping a margarita waiting for the 2022 cycle to kick into high gear.

GA DE decommits, was a PSU target.

Rumor has it that this could be a big year for decommitments.

Rivals is featuring a report that Marlin Dean, a 3* from a GA school, has decommited from the Bulldogs.

Dean is 6'6" and 285 lbs. He plays SDE. Rivals says he can play DE, DT and possibly OL due to his athleticism.

Penn State was once in the mix for him, though he did not visit. GA Tech is favored for him, along with some SEC schools. Anyway, the door is open for him.

Ryan O'hair is a 6'8" 293 lb. OT who is entering his senior year at South Fayette HS.

He has visited Penn State, Pitt and a few other schools, but he lacks a Div 1 offer. The reason? Possibly because he played at 220. Since the season ended he has gained 2 inches in height and added 70 lbs. He eats 6,000 calories, mostly chicken and rice, and works out like a demon. He has toyed with the idea of playing TE.

Today Rivals had him profiled as one of five players in the NE who need to play this fall in order to obtain offers.

His tape is nothing but pancake blocks against much shorter people. However, he showed some power playing 70 lbs. lighter.

Here he is recently standing next to Steelers LB Devin Bush, Jr.

Bush looks like a very small man next to this kid.

Apparently East Lansing WR Andrel Anthony is now trending to Michigan after being a MSU lean for ages. I only mention because he at one time was very high on PSU. He announces on Friday.

Not exactly a big loss for us. MSU needed him far more than we did.

I suddenly get a taste for a Margarita.
Any good recipes?
Close. I like this.
6 cups rhubarb
8 cups water
Boil , simmer 20 minutes.
Drain thru strainer.
Add one can frozen concentrate lemonade.
4 oz packet of strawberry jello
1/2 cup of lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar.
Stir then place in freezer.

Thaw when needed. Serve in 12 oz glass and add lime or lemon vodka :)

My favorite summertime cooler.

I dont see a new PSU article out on The Athletic yet, but Ari Wasserman today in his national recruiting article mentioned that an Athletic reporter covering Penn State (most likely Aubrey Snyder?) spoke to Nolan Rucci for 35 minutes. When a reader comment asked Wasserman about how badly Penn States class needs Rucci, Wasserman replied: "Good news for Penn State: They are in a good spot right now".

It was Audrey Snyder. Notice the shirt.

I mean, in all honesty - didn't we know we were in a good spot? The kid grew up an hour from campus and both parents are legacies. Not exactly groundbreaking stuff. Outside of him straight up saying "Penn State is my leader" - this doesn't change anything IMO. Fitz/Wasserman seem to think it's PSU, while Wilfong says Wisky.

It's PSU/Wisky neck and neck with more recent chatter saying he wants to play with his brother. Bottom line, Traut and Franklin need to get more time with the kid once the dead period ends.

Badgers trending for Nolan Rucci?
247sports national recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong was the first to project five-star offensive tackle Nolan Rucci (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) to Wisconsin. While he currently has his confidence set to a '5', Wiltfong may be increasing that substantially in the near future.

In an appearance with Josh Pate on the Late Kick Show, Wiltfong said he feels good about the Badgers landing the blue chip lineman based on where things stand now.

"My 247sports crystal ball is on Wisconsin and it's a '5' level," Wiltfong said. "I may be going up to an '8' here soon. I really think the Badgers are in great position to land Nolan Rucci.

"Wisconsin is the number 15 recruiting class in the country right now and
Nolan Rucci would be another big coup for Paul Chryst and company. I think the relationship with the staff, his brother (Hayden Rucci) is on the team, being on campus, being around their offensive line coach, being around their head coach, and being around their guys, he's extremely comfortable with that locker room."

"Penn State, the school that was perceived as the early favorite, has had some coaching turnover there," Wiltfong said. "He has yet to be around (offensive coordinator) coach Ciarrocca (Kirk Ciarrocca) and he has yet to be around (offensive line) coach Trautwein (Phil Trautwein)."

Rucci is the nation's No. 13 ranked player in the class of 2021 and fourth-ranked offensive tackle per the 247sports composite. Should Rucci land in Madison, he'd be the highest-ranked recruit in program history, tied with Josh Oglesby, who was also the composite's No. 13 ranked player in 2007.

"I think Penn State's in there. I think Clemson's in there. But right now, I still really like Wisconsin for Nolan Rucci, "said Wiltfong. "He's in no rush to make a decision. If things continue to play out this way, I'm not sure how a program could surpass Wisconsin."
