2021 Recruiting Class Thread

Wiltfong just CBed Gilliam to PSU with a confidence level of 7 - woohoo! Generally a good sign, as he's the closest thing to a straight shooter at TOS.

Unfortunately Wiltfong just switched his CB to Oklahoma and a confidence level of 9.

I mean, there's a reason why the guy's success rate is 99.whatever percent. These last minute flips once the obvious writing is on the wall take very little expertise.

Not saying he doesn't have good sources/insights. But people tend to overstate his all-knowingness.

Will need to hit the DL hard in the 2022 class. Talley should be a good start. Rough year to have a new DL coach, though since Scott recruited Gilliam while he was at South Carolina, I thought that positioned us well.

smh. I didn't post a word. I posted a tweet. When you see "Tweet!" it means that the Twitter accountholder removed the post, or something is wrong with the link.

Saw this scouting report on Tengwall. VERY high on him. I like him too and if he is that good it will be awesome.

Landon Tengwall is a tremendous talent and a recruit that I have been following for a couple of years. I am thrilled that Penn State has received his commitment, and I think he has the potential to be a 3 year Starter at either Guard or Offensive Tackle because he is so versatile.

Tengwall just looks like a brute, ready to take on college Dlinemen. I'm hoping he ends up at Guard at PSU, but for that to happen Trautwein will have to have recruited and prepared 2 pretty spectacular OT's.... ;)

He will be a dominant guard IMO. If he can handle college speed rushers, we may have a multi year starter at LT and top NFL pick.

WIN. WIn. WIN.

Miami could still be a player for Yulkeith Brown,
but the Hurricanes seem hot and cold on the Miami Central wideout. The indecision has allowed Penn State to become the odds-on favorite. One of the more versatile and dynamic wide receivers in the state, Brown has been in close contact with JamesFranklin and company since the pandemic began.

Brown has done multiple zoom calls with the Nittany Lions staff and seems close to a verbal pledge. Texas A&M remains involved to some extent as well.

Composite 4* WR/ATH.

5'10 175lbs from Miami. Sounds like a Seider/Stubbs special?

He would be a nice surprise pickup. Makes sense given the Stubblefield connection, too.

Really nice offer list.

Let's hope we land Rucci and Pounds to go with Wallace, Christ and Fashanu. That would be a very nice group of OTs.

Brown does not seem like a 4.4 burner, but he has great hands and makes great cuts through openings. Great hands have to be a focus for PSU WR's going forward, as we've seen too much the last few seasons of what happens with speedy NFL bodied WR's that drop balls and kill drives....

Brown looks like a DaeSean Hamilton clone!!

As expected, Kelvin Gilliam committed to Oklahoma. It is disappointing for Penn State to lose out on Gilliam, especially to a school that only started recruiting him 4-5 months ago and the fact that Gilliam has not even visited Oklahoma.

Never even visited the campus.

Definitely been a rough cycle for DL recruiting. Oklahoma has been a CFP fixture, but they’ve been horrific on defense. Alex Grinch was getting the Don Brown treatment by the talking heads, but was pretty terrible.

Wonder if we move on Robert Jackson, the Archbishop Wood kid, now at DT. We've held off on the offer.

In any case, I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that Gilliam is planning on taking his official visits, even if it means he won't sign until February. Lot of time left to go in that one.
