Some takeaways:
- Major upset by Campbell at 113 over returning S3 Chappell.
- FR Shaw controlled returning S2-S3 senior Shindledecker.
- Stout with a 1:31 TF!
- Weightman winning is a mild upset. DiGiorgio had looked really good this year.

AAA consis -- notable results thru blood round:
- 113: Allison, McMillon, and Parkins all lost in the blood round. This weight is nuts.
- 120: Cunningham dec Ziegler 5-3 SV in the blood round.
- 126: Undefeated senior regional champ Hershey went 0-2.
- 145: Foster dec Harmon 3-1. Beca regional champ bounced by Nazareth.
- 152: Condomitti with 2 pins in consis, will medal after the opening upset.
- 285: Tustin F Laventure 3:08. Tustin had 2 earlier pins in 0:21 and 0:09.

Some observations:
- M2 having one hell of a tourney.
- Crookham is wrestling well, but not like a national PFP top 5 guy. Pierce is also wrestling very well. Their final could be much more competitive than expected.
- Jones won on a stall call with 1:45 left.
- This was Pitzer's longest match so far.
- For the 2nd straight year, PA has a freshman HWT finalist. If Johnson wins, he'll be the first ever champ.

Notable in consis:
- 120: S2 Hornack vs S3 Vargo in the consi semis.
- 172: Lear vs Garcia in the consi semis, for their approximately 37th mtg of the year. This should be the 3rd place match.
- 285: Muzika F 2:03 -- reminder, HS pins are a 2-count.

Has there ever been an end-of-season dual where the respective AA and AAA state champs competed against each other? Generally speaking, do the AAA schools produce more Division I wrestlers? Flo did an article on this in 2020, but unfortunately it is behind their paywall and I decided to cancel my subscription recently. TIA

Yes, was called Challenge of the Champions (highest placing Sr at each weight). Winner usually got the PA spot at Dapper Dan. Ended in the 90s maybe?

Crookham number one advantage when he won his first 2 titles was his strength. When he was a sophomore he was was benching almost 300. When he beat Howard who was a senior he was stronger than him. Albeit Howard was coming back from injury. When he beat Haines a couple of times that same year at 126 he was stronger than Levi. Competing at 138 this year the strength advantage is not so predominant.
I'm curious if he has ability to cut back to 133 in college.

AAA produces more D1 wrestlers. Also, when looking at the AA and AAA medalists, at most weights AAA is deeper -- i.e., if there were one bracket, it would be mostly AAA guys on the podium. Also, a lot of the AA state qualifiers and probably some medalists wouldn't get out of regionals -- and some wouldn't get out of districts.

That said, in a combined bracket AA would get its share of champs. Maybe not 50-50, but close. It's further down the podium where AAA is better.

PA AA is still one of the toughest state tournaments in the country.

Unfortunately and unexplicably, PIAA doesnt “allow” underclassmen to participate in anything of the sort.

Never understood why they can govern what a kid does in the offseason.

I don't know if the rankings have changed but wasn't the degree of difficulty of state tournaments:

1. PA AAA
2. CA
3. OH AAA
4. PA AA

I may have the middle 2 wrong.

Kamdyn WIlliams losing to Kilkeary was expected.

Also, that was Tan on Tan crime. Ohio State couldn't help but win that semi.
