I think Haines, Fucundo, Starocci or Mesenbrink redshirt. May not be a wrestle off. One just decides.

Starocci may have skirted around whether he will be back for fourth title chance but one thing he’s been fairly clear about is that he’s not that interested in a fifth.
He doesnt wanna be in college 6 years.
You really think he’s gonna shirt next year then come back??
Why wouldnt he just leave now, shirting makes no sense at all for him.

I'm throwing it out there. The team scoring record at Nattys will be shattered in 2024.

Well we would need all 10 wrestlers to average 17 points each. I suspect with the 3 point takedown next year there will be many more bonus points for majors and TFs so that will help.

Remind me. Didn't they change the scoring system since the record was set? I think 170 pts is pretty much unattainable going forward.

Any chance someone can recalculate the original record using today's model?

Feel AFac should get at least 10 and are we sure Brooks is gonna run thru 97 as easy as he did 84?
Just askin’,go easy guys.

In April a typical HR believer can show you how the Hawks will have multiple champs, 10 AAs and score 150 plus.

I am just demonstrating how even in the best Iowa fantasy they are still 40 points behind.

HR the day Anthony Ferrari committed (and he was instantly a finalist at 157), AJ was cleared from criminal charges and they were adding I think Bouzakis and Keckeisen was a fun read.

I did this last year and had 1996-1997 Iowa at 172 on today’s scoring.

Weren't there a few more people in the bracket then? So a team/individual wrestler had a chance to wrestle an extra round potentially. I'm not saying that the record is or is not within reach, but I think it has become a bit more difficult.

Gobblin over there so bad wants to be an insider…..he was the one that started the bouzakis was transferring in rumor...had everyone up in arms about…..then most recently running his mouth that nagao was basically a done deal…..dude sounds like an idot

They had Chittum easily beating Van Ness - and now Chittum is hurt.

We can't predict the line up when we don't have a many choices so now ought to just be a piece of cake.

Been over there many years. Crazy how many of them over there still thinks he knows what's up.

Chittum is very good. He is a perfect Iowa style wrestler. However, I think that he made his reputation manhandling younger guys and maturity of his opposition has caught up with him a bit. He has gas tank issues from matches I've seen. I don't think he's finals material yet. Maybe that tank improves in the Iowa room. That would be big for him. But unless he develops that, he'll be having issues in he 3rd against D1 competition.
To be balanced I think that Beau Bartlett had some of the same issues (besides being up a weight) less the tank issues. He manhandled a lot of his competition in High School. Much tougher to do in D1 and up a weight were everyone has more muscle.

Correct, it is now a 32 man bracket with one pig tail so only the #32 & #33 seeds have a chance at an additional advancement point and they would have to beat the #1 seed to get it. It used to be (prior to 2014 I think) that if a bracket had more than 32 wrestlers the first round winners got 2 advancement points. I would have to look but guessing when Iowa set the scoring record that gained them an extra 6-8 points which cannot be achieved with the current scoring system.

Upon reading, “Gobblin sounds like an idot,” I paused to wonder if Taco’s spelling was intentional; that he had cleverly invented a new term to describe Gobblin’s commentary. That is, Gobblin’s comments don’t even rise to the level of intelligence of an idiot. His comments are those of an ‘idot." Funny.

Anyone putting any money on Starocci coming back? I didn't think he sounded too eager to return. And after his performance at us open (injury aside) kinda shows he's got some progress to be made in freestyle. Plus, wrestling 174 is gonna be a pain in the ass whilst cutting to 74kg.
