Kid was arguably the top recruit in the country and is getting a ton of money to be here and some of you treat him like geno morelli
I disagree. Alex was close to finishing in the 1st against Heller and again in the 3rd. He was close to finishing a couple times just now. He gets any one of those TDs and it completely changes the match IMO. If he starts finishing a couple of those, he's right there. If he doesn't then yeah he's in trouble.
Facundo did not represent himself this postseason like he should have. No doubt. He's got some things, maybe a bunch of things to work on. He showed more skill in freestyle. I know he has it. Just didn't show it the last half of this year. I think he'll be back with a vengeance next year.
He doesn't trust his stuff.
Good for Nelson, but holy cow. Smith is losing 3 - 1 in the third and never took a freaking shot.
He had a tough 1st round match and got his knee tweaked, so I thought.

Look at what he did to Starocci. Nelson is soooo hard to get to. Strong as an ox, disciplined, great feet. Huge pain in the ass to wrestle

The other thing is that everyone in this tournament is very good. The upsets have been crazy. Alex losing sucks but he sure as hell wasn’t favored to beat Ramirez. He’s also a freshman. He will be fine and sometimes a day like he had today is exactly what someone needs to really evaluate everything they are doing and figure out a path to come back better. I believe in our coaching staff to figure out what he needs. It’s hard to make big changes during the season. You can only make small tweaks but during the offseason a lot of work can be done. He will look like a different guy next year I bet

Sure. He (Facundo) obviously needs to get better and more varied offense - way too many matches when he didn't get a single TD. And if his MO is to wrestle close, low-scoring matches, he needs to get a lot tougher on top.
No one is saying Facundo can't or won't improve, But you like to see a little more from a highly ranked recruit after two years in the program. Hopefully he'll figure it out.
