2024 Sr World Team Trials, Sept 14-15

Interesting to see Cole at 92. Not something I would have predicted. He’s been on full feed for awhile now
Leaving the option open to go down to 197? Maybe Connor plans to step up and man 285.

I wouldn't go nearly that far. 92 kg / 202 lb is the highest available weight at Trials.

I'm not exactly thrilled to see him still able to make that weight, but we don't know what his cut is. IF he can actually make that weight.

And realistically, he doesn't need to be bigger until next year.

Call me a kill joy but I remain skeptical that Marisola will be our long term answer at Heavy. Realistically 225 is the bare minimum and 240ish is more ideal. I don't know if he is that guy. If he can get up to the 230 range, AA isn't necessarily an automatic, just my opinion.

With our roster bursting at the seams up and down the lineup, there may not be any 'significant' inbound portal activity over the next several years. Heavy is the one area where I see a real possibility of a big man eyeing our program, and there being a need.

PS - Connor up to 285??? Uh oh, does that mean someone else is seeing Barr staying at 197 next year? I'm sorry, I can't resist.

Barr, Haines, Ryder, Cochran, Conner M, and Facundo will all be back next year trying to crack the line-up at 174, 184, or 197.

In an effort to get our best 10 on the mat, maybe Connor has his eye on the opening at HWT next year. I know this would create a conflict with Cole, but he won't be the only talented wrestler forced into a reserve role.

We will still have Haines, Ryder, Barr, Facundo, and Cochran available at 174-197.

You keep bringing it up like this - and who knows, maybe Barr will stay at 197 or go to 285 depending on the lineup permutations.

I didn't ridicule you about that. I ridiculed you because of the statement that you made (paraphrasing) "to compete at a high-level at 197 he would need to get to low 200s, and then he's going to have a hard time getting back to 184." That's just a foolish statement. In more ways than one. I can't imagine you've ever known any wrestler personally who competed at an upper weight at a high level (or even a HS level) when you make that statement. And you've hung around here and been a PSU wrestling fan long enough to know it.

Even more simply put - we've had three wrestlers in the last 15 years win National Titles at 197 competing at around 191, 192, 193 on full feed. We had another wrestler transfer in JUST LAST YEAR that took 4th at 197 when he wasn't a big 84 lber.

You just threw it out there - spitballing, I guess. Drivel, I call it. Occasionally, you make a sound point on these boards, but you need to throw a lot of sh*t on the wall to do it.

OUCH. That is going to leave a mark. The fan has been hit. Let the posting war begin! I got the popcorn. :)
PS: What are the odds someone will cut and paste a pink dildo in their response? . :)

I'm entertained by the fact that someone registering the wrong Mirasola for 92 has spurred a discussion on an imminent 285 problem in the future. Come on guys.

I know he's older and thus more physically developed but Cole (the more raw of the two) just absolutely manhandled Mocco Jr at Florida duals (think it was a takedown drilling to a pin), who many would pencil in as a huge get for 285. Connor obviously just beat Dreshaun Ross as well and I'm pretty sure he was giving up some weight (Connor is a 195 going up to 220)

All I know is (from their interview) Cael could not be higher on both of them in time.

How many people gnashing teeth over Cole's weight are also drooling over Mocco?

Nelson Brands needs an over/under for this.

Close your eyes and imagine:
A Karate Kid II ending. It’s Saturday night in Philly. AJ up 3-2 on Barr with 30 to go. Suddenly, the entire crowd collectively comes to their feet, pink dildos in each hand, and begins banging them together in unison like the on-lookers playing those Japanese drum things in the final scene of the movie. Barr gets TD at the gun to win it. Crowd tosses dildos on to mat like plastic rats at a Florida Panthers game.

Ouch

Don't think I've seen it confirmed, but rumors have been about that Sadulaev (Snyder's nemesis) will also be in the world bracket at 92, alongside Ghasempour (J'den's). DT has a chance to elevate his legacy quite a bit further in just 2 tourneys. It will be very odd w/o Casey in his corner though.

Who would be his corner? Zadick? Zo? His assistants? Also if all three are in the same bracket, that would be unreal. Especially if Ghasempour takes over for Yazdani at 86 which is the rumor and if Sadualev goes back up to 97kg next year, it would be the stars aligning for three greats to meet at the same weight

I think Zahid vs DT is a real match at this point. Zahid gave AB a much tougher match than DT did. Also, I can’t believe that Taylor is going to be in peak form. He’s had wayyyyy too much going on to train like he normally would for a tournament like this. If he wins and then wins worlds it absolutely bolsters his GOAT claim but does losing at trials and not even making the team diminish it?

Zahid sitting out until Day 2 is what gives me major pause about just saying DT next topic. Gun to my head, I'm still taking DT here.

DT for me too. The sitting out till finals aint what it used to be since they stretched trials into 2 separate days.

What does one google to find an image like this? Did you specifically have an idea of a dildo walking down a road, or did you just look for any dildo activity image? And what kind of responses did it uncover? Also, did you specify the color in the image search? Sooo many questions…..

FYI - I just searched "AJs best friend" and it popped up. So there is one way. ;-)
