Not that it means that much but how did the announcers decide that Webster was the Outstanding Wrestler? Their logic was that he beat the top seed. Well, Luke MAJORED the top seed. You know, the guy that pinned Lord Spencer.

It was way premature and just stupid to name that person so early.

Spot on. Yesterday was a good day. Lots of things to build off of. Cael & Co have proven time and time again that they can make the necessary adjustments to build from B1G10s to NCAAs. Just look at Davis. His loss to Shawver was hard to watch but he came back in the consis with a bit of fire in his eyes. We’ll see if it carries through to today but we have everything to be grateful for and excited about this team.

Yeah, we’re at the point where 6 finalists and an insurmountable lead after Friday is somehow a disappointment. That’s definitely first world problems.

We went 19-4 yesterday. We lost 3 of those 4 matches by a late TD in the final 5-10 seconds in the second hardest tournament in America. The 4th loss was by only 3 points.

I don't think this tournament saw the best from some of our guys. I also think those guys will wrestle better in 12 days 😂. History tells us that much.

Maybe not the very best from some of the PSU guys. However:

Vombaur over Bartlett was only a mild upset IMO.

Cardenas beating Barr is not an upset. Barr hasn't come close to getting a TD against Cardenas in two matches.

The biggest suprise by far was the SVN loss to Webster. Did not see that one coming.

It looks like they're starting with the mini-tournaments for NCAA qualification. If Cruz wins, he goes to a 9th place match (9 allocations for 125) vs McCrone if he holds his lead.

Edit: all right, it's Cruz vs McCrone for the last automatic allocation with the loser waiting for a possible wildcard.

Agree. SVN was the only real upset. Barr was 50/50 at best and Beau lives and dies in the last 30 seconds.

Also, Starocci wouldn't have qualified for nationals last year because you have to wrestle 2 matches at your conference tourney to be eligible so, with this proposed rule, he injury defaults the first match and he's done for the tourney, he's done for the year. Come to think of it, let's make it a rule!
