Would playing in a playoff game change that outcome?
This is the stuff that's ridiculous--let's not pretend he was going to be a surgeon by going to Penn State
He would likely be in the NFL if he goes to PSU. And yes the playoff is a good place to showcase talent. Miami D is so bad it will be hard for him to make an impact.

If you have talent you can get to the NFL from anywhere. Miami and Penn State both will give him a great chance if we're being honest. Great players on bad defenses still impress--see all the Big XII guys in the NFL
I don't even think this is a major loss for us--would have been a nice depth guy but (yes I know he's from PA originally) he was never going to State College from La Tech

Do you even follow recruiting? Players all start out unranked and go from there. Saquon was a 3 * when he committed to rutgers.

We have some good WRs committed. Guilford was o$ered by osu. Osu has signed zero 3 stars in the last 6 years years. Guilford will be a 4*. Rodgers will be a high 4*
I guess PSU is fooling the experts.

Regardless who recruited these kids Hagans has a job to do and that’s to make these players better period. He’s getting paid so there are no excuses

Its been pretty evident to me Saunders is leaving. He played exactly 4 games this year and has been totally shut down.
It's also evient that Saunders was hurt the whole year. He only went out to fair catch punt returns because Franklin knew Saunders could catch punts and Franklin won't put anyone out for punt returns that he doesn't have confidence in to catch punts. If Saunders would have been healthy he likely would have been playing WR getting some snaps based upon what he did in the 2023 season.

At this point we know nothing about what Saunders will do as far as leaving the team. But we should know within a week or two after PSU's last game within the playoff.

Just think, in about a year from now, he’ll be able to opt out from whatever mid-tier bowl that program plays.
Yep, and he'll likely have been unable to spend all the NIL he got to go there so he can opt out and spend bowl season on the beach of his choosing.....

We don’t know who the starters are for next year…
Isn't that the problem?
There's no way we can go into next season without 2 guys better than Wallace--at least one
If we don't have that we need to take about 6 WRs and have them compete while we pray 2 work out.
Right now, we're setting Allar up to fail

Have plenty of options. We need DTs, LBs and Safeties now.
PSU had plenty of options in 2024. Don't need options. Need playmakers.

I don't believe Franklin will take more than 1 LB, and likely only 1 Safety. Multiple DT's, thats likely the plan but he doesn't have any yet....

Mark Gronowski in the portal--just became the best QB in the portal by far
Watch him go to Oregon

Is he an FCS program QB?
Yes, he played at South Dakota State--won back to back titles--basically with ease before North Dakota State beat them in the semis this year.
Allegedly considering entering the draft but I don't see that as likely

Yes, now I recall. I also watched that semi-final just couldn't remember which school. He was definitely a top tier QB.

From 247 portal thread:

"With about 5 mins left in our game Kendal Daniels went live on IG with a friend. I got the notification, so thinking he may be making an announcement I joined. Anyhow, friend says, "give me a hint where you're going...are they playing right now?" to which Daniels smiles big and nods yes."

Maybe tomorrow we get some news?

Coaching is an important part of what a coach does. Trautwein has taken kids who weren’t five stars and turned them into one of the best lines in the country. Barnes has had some top recruits and they are playing like that. Hagans has shown nothing. Let’s hope that changes, but it’s reasonable to expect more, particularly when one of our top rivals has the best WR coach in the business.

There are four 5* on the ol. It also took trautwein 5 years to produce a good line. 3 years ago you were ready to fire trautwein.

There are no 5 star recruits on the PSU offensive line. Maybe you could count Rucci but he was not a starter at the beginning of the year and is a major feather in Trautwein’s cap. He didn’t do anything at Wisconsin and he was able to step right in and do a great job. Not even sure what the last sentence means. Who wanted to fire Trautwein three years ago?

And...
Most of them were athletes that we tried to make into WRs. Great athletes don't necessarily have great WR talent.

False. They all play wr as their primary position. If you want to go there then we could also list oLESH as a wr since that is his strength.

The athletes were players who were not even recruited by Hagan's like omari Evans. Evans had to make a position change and he is actually our best deep threat. He is the wr with the most tds and yards per catch.

On, what, 21 catches? That means nothing. He has less than 2 catches a game
I'm not sure why you think all our recruits were star WRs in high school--they weren't.

Including the beach environment he chose to live in on a full ride for 2 years. Miami is the USC of the East. Small, private university with the significant advantage of weather/lifestyle.

These are not huge campuses- so the football players especially stand out. Everyone knows who you are. The social reputations of both are over the top, and the academic reputations are growing into being considered upper echelon rather than just bikini schools.

Think about it. This young man started out at West Chester University. I'd have loved to see him at State, but maybe like Steve Bono and UCLA many years ago, he got on their campus and fell in love ( not necessarily with the buildings).

Many of us work our whole lives and couldn't afford to vacation in Miami for one week per year. This kid gets 104 weeks, the opportunity to grow, and NIL.

It probably isn't the best NFL decision- but that is his choice.

Good luck to him!

I said the wr recruits were all ranked 4* by at least one recruiting service. Are you disputing that?

I'm stating that they aren't proven WRs that require a ton of coaching and the star rating is based on potential whereas Ohio State and others are bringing in kids that have shown the ability to succeed at the position. We like projects.
