I don't think that "senior associate AD, student-athlete performance, health and welfare and senior woman administrator (SWA)" is descriptive enough. I like saying SWA out loud as a word though. Rhymes with schwa /ə/. SWA! SWA! SWA! It sounds great.

What does that job entail?
Charmelle Green was named Senior Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Penn State in March 2015. Green is responsible for the management, supervision, and evaluation of women's volleyball, men's and women's cross country and track & field, softball, and ability athletics.
In her role, she is also responsible for the management, supervision, and evaluation of Intercollegiate Athletics Sport Performance unit, which includes medical services, athletic training, strength & condition, sports nutrition, and sports psychology. She also manages, supervises and evaluates the Intercollegiate Athletics Student Welfare and Development unit, which develops and implements life skills programs, and resources for student-athletes.

Green has served on numerous department and university-wide committees, including the search committee for former Penn State football coach Bill O'Brien, the University search committee for Vice President and General Counsel, the University Policy Review Committee, the University Employee Leadership Steering Committee, the University's Employee Education Initiative Team, the University Response Coordination Committee, and Faculty Senate's Intercollegiate Athletics Committee. Green also serves as the University's Deputy Title IX Coordinator.

BobPSU92 must be exhausted after the thread on Pamela Anderson was posted and he’s probably sleeping it off this morning. Or this would be red meat to him. Wether this is a replacement or an addition is immaterial. The job description contains a great deal of supervising, evaluating and obviously report writing. All critical components of our Great Leap Forward.

I always get a chuckle when people get in a tizzy over the rising number of directors in the athletic department. A few years ago PSU did a major renaming of positions across the University and a lot of people in athletics suddenly had director added to their title. Even trainers, strength coaches, budget folks, etc. now have some sort of 'Director' or 'Athletic Director' as part of their job title.

Two questions.
When is this top heavy ship that Sandy is building going to flop over and go belly up with all its legs kicking in the air?

What is the over/under prediction on how many senior, assistant, associate, and emeritus athletic directors will there be at PSU when Sandy finally leaves?

I get an extra chuckle when the role is being back filled for someone that already left.

We’re falling even more behind in this brave new world of college athletics. We’re hiring 8,000 AD’s, while the big boys are hiring players.

As BBG65 said ... it seems like colleges these days are becoming top heavy in all departments. I can't believe the need that many associate & assistant ADs to do the job. Same with Associate/Assistant provosts, deans, VPs, etc. Seems like all the money is going to top people who really don't directly work with the students in any capacity. No wonder college is becoming so expensive.

One of the main reasons the ncaa lost.

I will say this. A decent amount of the ADs do a lot of grunt work that you would not expect them to need to do. Also, those ADs are not as paid as much as you would think and their job is not anywhere near as glamorous as I imagine some believe comes with having AD in job title.

That being said, there are some that make a bunch of money and are overpaid IMO.

There is a distinct difference between an Associate AD and an Assistant AD just as there is a difference between a professor, associate, assistant, lecturer, instructor, and adjunct. Higher Education has a pecking order just like the military's chain of command.

Rhodes was hired as an Associate AD, compensation is greater than an Assistant AD by quite a bit.

Well of course they are not all paid the same. Some on here act though like we have 40 something Sandy’s sitting around.

Rhodes is a woman, so I already ”Be’d right back” this morning. 😞 Now, as to her grandiose title, her position ( o_O ) will no doubt entail some major leadering. I feel another “Be right back” coming on. 😞

Sandy laughs at going belly up.

OSU had somewhere between 50-60 and people complain that PSU had 43 ADs.
I’ve never understood the rationale that it’s okay for an organization to be inefficient, bloated and wasteful as long as other organizations are more inefficient, bloated and wasteful. My comment is a general one, because I’m not totally conversant with OSU’s Athletic Department. So I guess I’ll continue to be critical of the present AD until I witness better results.

Seems like a very important position. While the position was vacant, the other 42 AD's had to work 41 hour weeks.
This must be an important position if all of those people had to work 16 hours/week more than they normally did.

Please stop. Gorging on onion dip, spending exorbitant sums of money, and shoving your head up leaderers’ asses is a full-time job.

Are you saying that Athletic Department staff are poaching Fat Eric's onion dip? Just remember, onion dip is for closers. 🤬

There is plenty to go around. They’re all elite, and the elite don’t go without.
